28/9/11

Lough Currane, was on the wild side, so most Anglers headed for the Bar and the High Stool, but saying that one boat did venture out, Mr. Con  Murphy caught 5 Juniors on the drift fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy. Wind SE Strong and overcast 

27/9/11

There were a few juniors taken on the drift, but catch of the day in the Sea Trout department goes to Mr. Rob Elson of the UK fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, they caught 9 Sea trout from Juniors up to 2.5lbs. Wind SE fresh and overcast with heavy rain this morning.

Lough Currane was on the quiet side, just a few Juniors reported on the drift. Now we cut across the valley to the River Inny and Mr. Christopher O’Sullivan caught a lightening fresh Grilse weighing in at 4lbs.

Lough Currane was on the wild side this morning, with a strong SW wind blowing across Lake with heavy rain, but come midday, the Lake had calmed down, just a few Juniors caught on the drift, but don’t be surprised of a update later.

Straight to the Salmon and Sea trout department, Guests fishing with their Gillie Mt. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net caught a fine Grilse on the troll and finished their day off with 4 Juniors on the drift,   and a guest fishing with his Gillie, Mr. Neil O’Shea and @ www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught 1 Junior. Now we cut across the Valley to the River Inny and catch of the goes to Luxembourg Angler Mr. Raymnd Paulis, who caught his ever Salmon on the fly so congratulations to him and just for the record his Salmon weighed in at 9lbs. Wind SW fresh with reasonable cloud cover.

Mr Rob Elson of the UK caught a fine 10lbs on the troll and caught 2 Sea Trout on the fly, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly

Mr. Jean Quintus 
there was some great fishing on the Waterville Fishery today, starting on Lough Currane. In the Fly department, Mr. Peter Liddel caught 5 Juniors fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and @ www.oshealoughcurrane.com  Mr. Chris McCullagh from Yorkshire England, caught 5 Sea trout ranging from Juniors up to 2lbs, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and at tomsfishing@eircom.net Now to the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com  Luxembourg Anglers Bob And Roma, caught 14 Sea Trout ranging from Juniors up to 2.5lbs and finished their day off with a fine Grilse in the 5lbs class. Now we cut across the valley to the river Inny and staying with the Luxembourg, Mr. Jean Quintus caught a fine Salmon on the fly, and Jean was also telling me so far on this Visit to Waterville which began on the 15/9/11 he and his good friend, so far have caught 22 Juniors on the Lake a Grilse on the famous Butler pool and @ www.watervillegolflinks.ie

Lough Currane was on the wild side with a strong WSW wind blowing down the lake, Anglers that did venture out here are their return’s, in the Fly department, the Binnion Party fishing with their Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy caught 5 juniors and finished their day off with a fine 7lbs Salmon, now to the total Sea trout department, Mr. Bob Amlung caught 2 Juniors on the drift, fishing with his gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net  staying in the drifting department, Mr Peter Liddle fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and @ www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught 3 Sea trout up to 2.5lbs. Wins as already stated and there was good cloud cover with showers.

20/9/11 Update

Right Flies, bad reporting, or you could say bad communications.

now today’s facts. In the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com  one Angler from Germany, caught 6 sea trout and finished his day off with a fine Salmon in the 12 lbs class all caught on the fly and staying with Lakelanshouse.com an Angler in a hired out boat caught 6 sea trout from juniors up to 2lbs, also in good form in the Sea trout fly department was Mr. Liddle, who caught 8 sea Trout ranging from Juniors Up to 2.5lbs fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and @ www.oshealoughcurrane.com    Just for the record you might want to read Sundays notes again.



Straight to the poaching department, I was reading on  www.loughcurrane.com in the last couple of days a massive Salmon was caught on the Fly and released in in Copal and before they put my Noble Gentlemen back, he measured 43 inches and if this correct My Noble Salmon would be in the 34lbs class, now today’s facts my Noble game fish were in a lethargic  mood, or my Noble Anglers were fishing the wrong Flies or Lures.  

Lough Currane was on the wild side but this didn’t stop Mr. Dona McCarthy of Waterville and the USA catching a fine specimen 10lbs 3ozs Sea Trout on the fly and I believe the had one mighty battle with my Noble Sea trout, so his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy was telling me, and going by the strain on his face I would believe it, because I tell you its no joke trying to hold a boat in those conditions, so congratulations to the both of them, also in good form in the Sea trout department was Mr. Peter Twomey, who caught 3 Juniors to his rod,  fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net and staying with the Sea Trout Mr. John Kirwan of Dublin caught a fine Sea trout on the troll fishing with his gillie Mr. Vincent Appleby and of www.salmonandseatrout.com and just for the record we had a good crack from a Salmon bur the rascal lives on to fight another day. Wind SW fresh to strong with heavy rain at times in the afternoon.

18/9/11 Update/Inny

Mr. Michael Henry of Paris France caught a fine 7lbs Grilse fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan and @ www.vinventsfishing.com  And last but not least there were 4 more salmon were recorded on the Inny but alas my noble Angler wants to stay anonymous, but he did give me the weights 3.7.10.5.and 14lbs all caught on the fly,


18/9/11 The Inny takes the had lines, first in the C&R striking zone was Mr. Michael Roden with 2 Salmon to his rod both Grilse, were in the 6lbs class, as always Michael was fishing with his Gillie Mr. Junior Scully  also in good form on the Inny was Mr. Peter Liddel fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.loughcurrane.com caught 1 grilse. Now to Lough Currane and C&R of the day goes to Mr. John Twomey fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net they caught 10 Juniors on the drift. Staying in the Sea trout department Mr. Bill Rushby caught 4 Juniors on the fly fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and last but not least local Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly also caught a couple of Juniors on the drift. Wind NW fresh to strong this morning and light to fresh in the afternoon with the odd shower.

Straight to the action and the Salmon department on the River Inny and I can tell you there was a fine catch of 6 Salmon caught by Mr. John Curnow of Kinsale Co Cork and party ranging from Grilse up to 12.5lbs, John was telling me that all were put back except the 12.5lbs Salmon and who could blame him, because he caught it on the fly, and on a single handed fly rod, and in my book that’s catch of the year on the Inny so far, staying with the Inny Mr. Michael Roden caught a fine 6lbs Grilse fishing with his Gillie Mr. Junior Scully. Now we cut across the valley to Lough Currane and staying in the Salmon department Mr. Bill Rushby fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, Caught 3 juniors and finished their day off with a 7lbs salmon all caught on the fly,  In the total Sea trout department, Mr. Peter Liddle fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com  caught 4 juniors on the fly. Wind WNW fresh to strong with reasonable cloud cover with the odd shower.

There was some good action on the Waterville Fishery, in the trolling department on Lough Currane, Mr. john Baller of the UK and fishing out of www.butlerarms.com caught a 4.5lbs Grilse, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and @ www.oshealoughcurrane.com and catch of the day on the Lake goes to Mr. Phil Staniforth, and his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, they caught 2 Salmon and finished their day off with a junior, In the Sea trout department Local Gillie Mr. bob priestly caught 2 Juniors. Now to the River Inny, Mr. Michael Roden Fishing with his Gillie Mr. Junior Scully, caught two Grilse ranging from 4lbs up to 6lbs which Michael sportingly returned both Salmon, also in good form was Mr. Bob Amhlung from Luxemburg and his Gillie Mr. Tom O'Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net they caught 2 Grilse, ranging from 6lbs up to 6.5lbs, now to the C&R of the day on the Inny, and that goes to Mr. Ivor O’Connor, who caught a fine 8lbs Salmon. Wind WNW light to fresh with heavy showers throughout the day.

Straight to the Sea Trout fly department, and first in the striking zone, a guest fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy  caught 7 Sea trout, also in good form was Mr. Bob Amhlung from Luxembourg, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net caught 2 Juniors, which he sportingly put back, and staying with Sea Trout Local Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly also caught 2 Sea Trout. Now we cut across the Valley to the River Inny and there was a fine 6lbs Salmon caught on the fly by Mr. Merlin Males from Denver Colorado USA, Merlin was fishing with his Gillie Mr. Sion Brain and @ www.kbfishingireland.com and just for the record this was Merlin’s first ever Salmon and his first time ever using a double handed fly rod, I can see why he is called Merlin, he is a Magician with the fly rod and the truth of the pudding is in the eating of.

There was some good fishing on Lough Currane today, so straight to the action and the fly department, first in the striking zone was local Gillie Mr. Junior Scully and his client, who caught 8 Juniors and finished his day off with a fine Sea Trout of 4 ¾ lbs and his Gillie Mr. Junior Scully was telling me that all the Juniors were returned, staying with the Sea Trout, in the C&R department, Mr. Julian Smith and party from Scotland kept their rhythm in their fly rods today, with 10 Juniors. Also in good form in the C&R Sea Trout department, was Mr. Nick White from Wales, who caught 5 sea Trout ranging from Juniors up to 2lbs fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net and a Guest fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, caught 2 Juniors. Now to the Salmon and Sea Trout department, Local Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly caught a fine Grilse and 1 Junior on the drift. Now to the trolling department Mr. Walter Ruche of Switzerland fishing with his Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly and of www.lakelandshouse.com caught 2 Salmon ranging from 6lbs up to 7lbs.

13/9/11 Update

In the last few days, Mr. Marc Luyten and fishing party from Belgium, fishing in a hired out boat from Waterville Boats and @ watervilleboats@gmail.com caught 35 Sea Trout ranging from Juniors up to 2lbs and caught 2 Salmon ranging from 4lbs up to 6.5lbs in 3 days fishing. All caught on the Fly



There was some cracking fishing on Lough Currane today, so straight to catch of the day, in the Salmon Department, Mr. Dona McCarthy of Waterville and the USA, caught two Grilse and finished his day off with a cracker of a Salmon in the 12lbs class all caught on the fly fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and just for the record Dona put the Grilse back, now to the C&R fly department, Mr, Julian Smith and party, from Scotland fishing out of www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught 8 juniors and finished their day off with a Grilse. Now we head up stream to the Commeragh River where renowned Angler and a great manipulator with his spinning rod, Mr. Mike Thian, caught a fine Grilse on worm. Wind WNW fresh to strong with reasonable cloud cover with heavy showers at times.

10/9/11 Update River Inny/Lough Currane

Lough Currane was at stand still with a strong SW wind blowing down the Lake, but at least you cold fish the South side, Local, Gillie Mr. Sylvester Donnelly and his Client caught a few Juniors and Sylvester was telling me that they rose a good few Sea Trout, no we will cut across the Valley to the River Inny as did the majority of Anglers, and here our the results as I know them, So far there has been one Salmon recorded  by Mr. Ivor O’Connor, who caught a 8lbs Salmon while spinning, and just for the record the amount of anglers fishing on the Inny I am sure there would have been a few more salmon procured and considering there was first class Water they have no excuse. Wind as all ready stated. As I am sure you all now that the back end of Hurricane Katia is going to us in the next 48 hours, so if tomorrow’s notes are not up as usual, you will know my net is down, but I hope yours will be full, so tight lines.

Which were all returned, also in good form in the C&R Department, was Mr. Lindsay Richards and his Gillie Mr. Tom O‘Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net with 6 juniors. Wind SSE fresh to strong at times, with good cloud cover, with the odd heavy shower.

There was some fine Game Fishing on Lough Currane today, so straight to the C&R Salmon and Sea Trout department, Mr. Ian Murray, and Mr. Ally Gowns caught 4 Grilse on the fly and finished their day with a few Juniors and a fine Sea Trout of 3 lbs, fishing with their Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, staying with the Salmon and Sea Trout, Waterville Sea Trout fly-fishing Champion Mr. Eddie Blanche fishing in a hired out boat from  tomsfishing@eircom.net  caught 8 Sea Trout from Juniors up to 4lbs and finished his day off with a fine Grilse 4lbs, now to the total Sea Trout department Mr. Mark Doorman fishing with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly, caught 9 Sea Trout, 7 Juniors and the other 2 weighing in at 2.5lbs and 2¾ lbs, staying with the Sea Trout Mr. Michael Smith of the UK and his Sean, fishing with their Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com  caught 2 sea trout in the Junior Class, also in good form was Mr. Lindsay Richards, who caught 6 Sea Trout from Juniors up to 2lbs on the fly, fishing with his gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net

Lough Currane was on the wild side with a strong NW wind blowing and what boats were out, failed miserably in there duties, but at least they had a good excuse, because the lack of rod benders on Lough Currane we will cut across the Valley to the River Inny and the same couldn’t be said there, because there was a fine catch of Salmon, and in the Inny striking zone were Mr. Joseph O’Dwyer, Mr. Camille Egger and their Gillie Mr. Sion Brain and of www.kbfishingireland.com  they caught 3 Grilse

There was a fine Trout caught on the troll by Mr. Delap of the UK fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent Appleby and @ www.salmonandseatrout.com and we were unlucky in the Salmon department because we lost a fine Salmon on the troll but that’s fishing, and staying in the Salmon department, in the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com Mr. Jim Restrict caught a Grilse on the drift fly fishing, now to the C&R Sea Trout department, Mr. Sean Smith and his Father, Mr. Michael Smith, caught 2 fine Sea trout on the drift, ranging from 2.5lbs up to 4lbs, fishing with their Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and @ www.oshealoughcurrane.com now we cut across the Valley to the River Inny, and C&R of the day goes to Mr. Dermot Devereaux with 2 Grilse weighing from 3lbs up to 6lbs, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net also in good form again today on the Inny was Mr. Mike Thian, with a fine fresh Grilse caught on the Black Birds Fancy, and staying with the Inny Local Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer caught a 5lbs Grilse. Wind WSW fresh to strong and overcast with heavy showers late this afternoon. Update,  In the last few days the Prince fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan and @ www.vincentsfishing.com caught 17 Sea Trout on the fly, ranging from Juniors up to 2lbs.

4/9/11 Look at yestedays notes

It was a wild day on Lough Currane today even though a few boats headed out this morning, but come lunch time thy were all blown off, so we will head for the River Inny, and that didn’t fair much better because it made a flood this morning so the river was dirty for a while. But one Angler did catch a fine grilse on the lower reaches just before it got dirty, and that was local Angler Mr. Mike Thian. Wind SW Strong and overcast with heavy showers throughout the day. Just for the record fish may have been caught on the river Inny late this afternoon and evening so watch this space.

3/9/11 Breaking News All quiet my Foot

There was some cracking fishing Around the Waterville Fishery today, so we will start with the lake, in the specimen Sea Trout department, Mr Edwin O’Connor caught a cracker of a Sea Trout on the fly weighing in at 10 lbs 6ozs fishing in a hired out boat from Waterville Boats and @ watervilleboats@gmail.com and there was another 10lbs Sea Trout also on the fly, now we will cut across the Valley to the River Inny and catch of the day, and that goes to Young Archie Curnow of the UK because he caught two cracking fish weighing in at 11.5lbs and 8.5lbs and his uncle, Mr. John Curnow, finished day off with a Grilse on the fly

1/9/11 Update


Young Archie Curnow of the UK caught a fine Sea Trout of 2lbs on the the fly and also added a few Juniors to his basket, fishing with his Uncle John, Mr. John Curnow of Co Cork.
