31/3/2024 The Currane anglers were all quiet on all fronts on this Easter Sunday. Wind SE light, followed by a few showers. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 8.4 mm, amount of sun 9.2, maximum air temperature 12.2c. Just for the record there were seven boats out.

30/3/2024. The lonesome boatman and of www.fishingwithdom.com  and his client were the only Currane anglers out this Easter Saturday and they report that their lines were all slack. Wind South Light to fresh, followed by reasonable cloud cover. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 2.9mm., amount of sunshine 0.0, maximum air temperature 11c.

28/3/2024 Breaking News, To anglers from around the World, Please put your objections in and Save our Salmon and Sea Trout heritage.

Hello again MOWI have now applied to renew another Salmon Farm license this time at Inishfarnard which is on the southern side of Kenmare Bay. This also needs to be strenuously opposed as it also is damaging the salmon and sea trout stocks in all the rivers in the vicinity. There was a large number of objections to the application at Deenish. Please forward your objections to finfishpc@agriculture.gov.ie  quoting reference T05 / 233 before April 9th Kind regards Michael and Kevin.

 reports that there were ten boats out today and by all accounts all fly and trolling lines were slack. Wind NE veered NW, and variable, followed by plenty of sunshine. Yesterday’s weather amount of rainfall 19.6mm, amount of sunshine 1.5, maximum air temperature 8.0c.

The Currane anglers were all quiet in the Salmon department, be it fly or lure, so on that note we head for the Brown Trout department, it’s good to hear the Duckfly are in full flight so local gillie Sion Braine reports that he caught a few nice Brown trout today. Wind SW, fresh and overcast all day. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 0.7mm. Amount of sunshine was 8.4

20/3/2024 I start today’s notes on a backdate, yes, I failed miserably in my duties for not checking my text messages, so let’s put the record straight. Currane angler Mr. Mick Francis caught a fine 9 lbs Salmon while trolling with his good friend and Currane Gillie Mr. Sion Braine. Now back to the present, Currane angler Mr. Bob Priestley caught a cracker of a 12 lbs Salmon on the troll. Just for the record Currane angler Mr. Mick Francis lost a good fish today. Wind NNE light to calm, followed by bright sunshine all day. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 4.9mm, amount of sunshine 0.6.

19/3/2024. Going by my WhatsApple the Currane anglers were all quiet on the Southwest front. Wind SW light and variable at times and overcast all day. Now to the comment of the day on yesterday’s notes, it comes from Mr. Walter Simpson and I quote, Not much difference fishing windy conditions or not as there’s no fish there anyway, no spin, no flys just BS as usual. The Currane anglers were at a standstill on this St. Patrick’s Bank Holiday Monday and for good reason, it was wild out there for most of the day as you can see by the picture, the lake is high. I start with a correction on yesterday’s notes, yes I failed miserably in my duties for not checking my notes, I reported that there was just one boat out, this was incorrect and just for the record there were 6 boats out, so my apologies for that. Now back to the present. www.fishingwithdom.com reports that the Currane waters were too rough this day.  Wind SW fresh to strong and overcast all day. Staying with the weather, Kerry is still in a yellow rain warning for tomorrow. Yesterday’s weather, the amount of rainfall yesterday was 19.3 mm. Max air temp 11.9c. Max sunshine 0.4.

 8/3/2024 Local Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy of www.fishingwithdom.com reports that there was just two boats out this morning and came off the lake early because it got wild out there with a strong East wind blowing, followed by strong gusts and overcast all day. Now to yesterday’s comments on yesterday’s notes, quote of the notes goes to Mr. Denis Kealy and I quote ‘No spins no flys just facts’ at it again.
