31/3/13 will have photos soon

It was a wild Easter Sunday on Lough Currane with a strong SE wind blowing down the Lake, but this deter German angler Mr. Bernd  Rall, from manipulating his flies, and I can tell you it wasn’t long before his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan and of www.vincentsfishing.com  and the doyen of the fly department and the Lobster Bar, had Bernd into a fine fresh 9.5 lbs Salmon and they finished their day off with a cracker of a Salmon in the 12 lbs class. Wind as already stated, light showers and overcast.

 All the head lines go to Mr. Dave Eccelstone of the UK, who caught a fine 10 lbs Salmon on the Fly, while fishing with his supreme Gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy and of www.fishingwithdom.com and for the rest of the Easter Saturday’s anglers the least said the soonest mended, wind SE light to fresh and overcast.

My Noble Salmon have gone back into a lethargic mood, the same couldn’t be said for the Kelt department, Local Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com  reports he and his client have caught a number of Kelts in the past two days. Wind East and still very cold and overcast.

 Mr. Tommy Duggan and his gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of www.fishingwithdom.com  were in great form again in the trolling department and for good reason they caught a 19 lbs and finished their day with a fresh 8lbs also caught on the troll, now we cut across to watervilleboats@gmail.com  And Mr. Eric Jouen caught a fine 10 lbs also on the troll, wind E and very cold

There was  some good action on Lough Currane with Mr, Tommy Duggan taking all the head lines with two fresh Salmon caught one on the troll and one on the fly, which is the first Salmon caught on the Lake, on a personal note I would like to apologise to Tom and his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of  www.fishingwithdom.com  for not taking a photo, the reason being I have a bad bought of flu, Wind SE fresh and very cold.

No reports of any real rod benders, and yes you have it, again my Noble Anglers failed in all departments, but to be fair it was very cold out there, so cold in fact there was the odd snow flurry, with the a light N wind blowing.

All I can say is St. Patrick didn’t fail in the Waterville St Patrick’s parade, the same can’t be said for the St Patrick Anglers on Lough Currane, who failed miserably in their duties, Wind N fresh with heavy cold showers throughout the day.

There were a few boats out manipulating on the Lake, so we will go straight to the C&R department, Mr. Anthony Breen, of Wexford, fishing in a hired out boat from Waterville Boats and of watervilleboats@gmail.com   caught a fine 10 lbs Salmon on the troll on the South side, and for the rest of we anglers the least said the soonest mended. There were nice fishing conditions on Lough Currane today, with a good WNW wind blowing, plus the odd light shower, but alas my noble Anglers couldn’t entice the Wild Atlantic Salmon, or putting it in my simple language they failed miserably in their duties

Just a few boats out, and no rod benders, wind NNE light with bright sunshine and just for the record the maximum air temperature yesterday was 2.9 C and if you take the wind chill into account it felt even colder.

A Freezing cold day, and very few boats ventured out, and the ones that did Failed in all departments. Wind NE fresh with snow showers, now to the poaching department of www.loughcurrane.com  
The boats on the Upper Lakes here are now deployed for the 2013 season!
There are two boats available on Lough Derriana and one each on Loughs
Cloonaghlin and Na Mona. This year we are hoping to also gain access for a boat on Lough Na Huisce. Watch this space!
These Upper Lakes have been much underrated as brown trout fisheries in the past, particularly as the excellent duck fly hatches produce great sport with good quality brown trout in the spring.
This year we are offering special rates for fly fishing for brown trout to members of the Waterville Fisheries Development Group. Fly fishing only,  on Derriana, Na Mona and Cloonaghlin, will cost just €25 a day until the 30th April 2013! Lough Currane was on the cold side with a fresh Easterly wind blowing up the Lake, and my Noble anglers failed miserably in all departments be it fly or troll.

12 lbs Caught on the fly
on the Waterville Fishery 

Straight to the action, the first 12lbs Salmon was caught on the fly, on the Waterville Fishery by that renowned Fly Fisherman Mr. Kevin Shea of Been Bane Waterville, and just for the record, Kevin’s late Father, MR. Jack Shea also of Been Bane, was one of Waterville’s great fly fisherman and  Gillie, and was also a Fishery Officer on the Waterville Fishery in the fifties and Sixties. Now for the rest of the fishing news on the Waterville Fishery, in the professional Gillie’s department, the least said the soonest mended, wind ESE fresh and overcast.
