Dr. Tim Gleason, caught 2 fine Grilse on the fly with his Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, also in good form with the fly, was Mr. Dave Bourke who caught a fine 5.5lbs Grilse in the Mouth of the Commeragh, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Frank Donnell and of www.lakelandshouse.com  In the Sea Trout department again just the odd Junior caught.

There was 1 Salmon/Grilse caught on the troll by Local Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net and on the Sea trout front just the odd Junior reported but nothing that would make the news head lines.

Lough Curran was on the calm side so my Noble Sea trout Anglers didn’t have much Success, even though the odd junior was caught, on the Salmon front the same couldn’t be said, so straight to the catch of the day, and that goes to Mr. Leif Frank Mikkelsen of Denmark who caught a fine 5lbs Grilse on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net

A guest fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught a fine Grilse on the troll and Neil was telling me that despite the east wind it was very warm out there, staying with the Salmon, Mr. Fitzpatrick caught 3.5lbs Grilse on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Michael O’Sullivan and @  watervilleboats@gmail.com   In the Sea Trout department, there were a few caught but nothing that would make the RTE News.

Again my noble fly Anglers had the elements against them with very little wind out there and what wind was there was from the NW, but one angler that did see a bit of action, was Mr. Alan Hanney of Co Galway, who caught a fine Brown Trout in the 1.5lbs class, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent Appleby and of www.salmonandseatrout.com and just for the record there were a few nice fish showing, and that is no spin and no fly’s just facts. Wind as all ready stated, and just for the record it was over cast with light misty rain late this afternoon.

Update
A guest fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O'Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught a fine 3lbs Sea Trout on the fly, and there was also a 4lbs Sea trout caught on the troll by Mr. Martin Clancy of Cork.


Straight to the Sea Trout fly department, Mr. Liam Ellis and Mr. Mr. Ted Aherne, of Cork, caught 3 Sea trout from Junior class up to 2.5lbs. In the Salmon Department Mr. Ld Binnian  and Party fishing out of www.butlerarms.com caught a 8 ¼ lbs Salmon on the troll, and going by my PI, they had one hell of a battle with my noble Salmon, rumour has it took the beast part of 30 minutes plus before their Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, dispatched my Noble Salmon, and as the say in the Highlands of Scotland better late than never. Wind NNW light to fresh at times and overcast with light drizzle at times.

Straight to the Sea Trout fly department,  Mr. Frank Donnelly of  www.lakelandshouse.com reported to me that in his hired out boat department, that a Party of Anglers from Killarney caught 9 Sea trout of which the best weighed in at 4lbs, now we cut across the lake to the North side, Local Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught 1 Sea trout with his guest, now in the words of local Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly, one cast one rise, one Sea Trout of 2lbs and that was it. Wind SW light to calm, so calm it wouldn’t have put a candle out.

Mr. John Boyle of Scotland caught a 7.5lbs Salmon on the famous Butler Pool and of www.watervillegolflinks.ie now we head upstream to Lough Currane, Mr. Andrew Wishart of Co Down, fishing out Waterville Boats and @ watervilleboats@gmail.com caught a fine 3lbs Sea trout, staying with the Sea trout just the odd Junior caught, but to be fair to my Noble Fly Anglers, there wasn’t much wind out there and what wind was there was from the NE with reasonable cloud cover. Now to The River Inny just for the record there have been a few Salmon Grilse caught in the last few days, but the Anglers names, are more elusive than my noble gentlemen the Salmon.

Straight to catch of the day and the goes to renowned Black Water Anglers, Garry and Brian Watton of the UK and Ireland and the truth of the pudding is in the eating of, because they caught a fine 6lbs Specimen Sea trout out at the Black Rocks with their Gillie Mt. Michael O’Sullivan of Waterville Boats and @ watervilleboats@gmail.com in the Sea Trout fly department just the odd Junior caught and to be fair on the fly angler there was little to no wind out on the Lake. In the Salmon department Mr. Colin Lynham fishing out of www.lakelandshouse.com caught 2 Grilse on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer. Wind E then veered NE and veered back E light to calm with bright sunshine.

There was some good fishing on the Waterville Fishery today I will start upstream on Copal Lake and the C&R Department, Mr. Colin Lynham and Mr. PJ Lynham fishing out of www.lakelandshouse.com  caught a fine Grilse fishing with their Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer. Now we head back down stream to Lough Currane, In the trolling department a Guest caught a fine Grilse fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net  Mr. Drew Brown caught a Grilse on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly now to the hired out boats Department of Waterville Boats and @ watervilleboats@gmail.com Mr. Andrew Wishart of  Co Down caught a Grilse on the troll, and in the fly department of Waterville Boats, Mr. John Boyle and Mr. Jimmy McCoy caught 2 Sea trout in the 2 to 3lbs class, now we cut across the Lake to the south side, Mr Brian Holland and Party caught a few Juniors with their Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly and of www.lakelanshouse.com staying with the south side Local Gillie Mr. Sylvester Donnelly of the Anglers Rest caught a fine 6.5lbs Grilse on the troll. Wind NW light to calm and overcast with light rain this evening, and just for the record there were a few boats out there so as you can appreciate some catches haven’t been recorded or you can say I failed miserably in my reporting duties.

In the hired out boat department of www.oshealoughcurrane.com Mr. Burns of Northern Ireland, caught a fine Grilse on the troll. In the Hired out boat department of Waterville Boats and @ watervilleboats@gmail.com Mr. Jimmy McCoy and Mr. John Boyle of Scotland caught 3 Juniors on the drift. In the Sea trout department, Mr. Ted Aherne, fishing with his Brother-in-law Mr. Liam Ellis of cork caught 5 sea trout ranging from 2.5lbs up to 3lbs all caught on the drift. Amount of rainfall 8.8mm, max air temperature 14.8c. 




We still have that cold North wind blowing across the Lake and because of this my Noble Sea Trout are still in a lethargic mood, the same however couldn’t be said for my Noble Salmon, and for good reason because today Mr. Drew Brown caught a cracker of a Salmon on the troll weighing in at 13lbs fishing with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly. In the Sea Trout and fly department Mr. Ger Fogarty of Tipperary caught a fine Sea trout in the 2.5lbs class fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net

over the past two days, Mr. Alan Dolan and Mr. Derek McHugh caught 4 Sea Trout ranging from Junior class up to 2lbs, fishing with their Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net and in the hired out boat department of Waterville Boats and @ watervilleboats@gmail.com Mr. Andy Wishart caught a Sea of 1.5lbs.



Fishing conditions may not be the best for my Noble Sea Trout, but I can tell you Mr. Bill Rushby would beg to differ and for good reason, first Bill caught a fine Grilse and finished his day off with a fine specimen Sea Trout of 9lbs all caught on the fly, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and staying with the fly, Dr. Tim Gleason caught 2 Grilse with his Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, now to the trolling department Mr. Drew Brown, caught a fine grilse on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly. In the total Sea Trout department, not a lot to be said but to be fair there were wild conditions at times out there and most Anglers on the South side didn’t venture out, meanwhile on the North side, local Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught 1 Sea Trout in the Junior class.

Roberson party had a C&R of a fine 5lbs Sea Trout, fishing out of waterville Boats


There may have been a strong and cold north wind with heavy showers blowing across the lake, but this didn’t deter my Noble Angler from procuring my Noble Game fish, and the Salmon and Sea trout results  are as follows, Mr. Michael Wright of the UK caught a 6 ¼ lbs Grilse on the troll, with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com in the hired out boat department of Waterville Boats @ watervilleboats@gmail.com Mr.  Michael O’Sullivan reported to me that Mr. Andy Wishart caught a 6lbs Grilse on the troll, Mr. John Boyle caught a 2lbs Sea trout on the drift, and the rest of Michaels hired out boats caught a total of 10 Sea trout from Juniors up to 2lbs. Now we cut across the Lake to the south side and the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com An angler caught one Grilse, staying with the south side and my catch of the day, and that goes to Mr. John Donnelly who caught a fine Grilse and finished his day off with a 4lbs Sea Trout fishing with his Brother and Gillie Mr. Sylvester Donnelly

 In the Salmon department all the head lines go to Mr. Michael Rieger of Bavaria, who caught a fine Grilse on the troll and added a Sea Trout to his basket, and his Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.Lakelandshouse.com was telling me that they also contacted 2 more Grilse. In the Sea trout department, Mr. Wright, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught 3 Sea trout on the drift, and staying with the Sea trout a guest caught 1 Sea trout on the drift, with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan and of www.vincentsfishing.com as did a Guest fishing with his Gillie Mr. Junior Scully.

Again Lough Currane Wild Sea Trout and Salmon were not in a taking mood in general, but at least some anglers did see some action and they are as follows, a guest fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and tomsfishing@eircom.net caught 3 Trout as did a guest fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy.

Again the weather dictated The Salmon and Sea Trout results, and with bright sunshine and a slack Westerly wind, you can understand why my Noble Game Fish were in a lethargic mood but some anglers did see their rod bend, Mr. Pat Healy caught a fine 2lbs Sea Trout on the troll on the south side, Mr. Roger Wilcox and Alison Young of the UK fishing with their Gillie Mr. Vincent Appleby and of www.salmonandseatrout.com  caught a fine 1.5 lbs Brown Trout which I might add was put back to fight another day, and staying with the Sea Trout, there were only reports of the odd Junior being caught.

All anglers failed miserably to catch my Noble Game fish, mind you to be fair the elements were not in favour of we Anglers, with little to no wind, and what wind was there was coming from NNW light to calm, even though I sure the odd Junior was caught, so watch this space for a update on today’s action

In the fly department, Mr. Dara Tracey, fishing out of www.lakelandshouse.com  was in excellent form again with a fine Grilse and followed by 3 Sea Trout in the Junior class. Mr. Roger Wilcox of the UK caught a fine  Sea Trout on the fly in Copal, and his fishing partner Alice, caught 3 Brown Trout on the fly and finished her day off with a 1.5lbs Sea Trout caught on the troll, fishing with their Gillie Mr. Vincent Appleby and of www.salmonandseatrout.com Mr. Pat Healy caught 2 Juniors on the troll also in Copal, Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com reported to me that there were only losses in the Salmon department, but one angler said to Neil that he had caught one. Wind NW light to calm and overcast for most of the day.

Straight to the C&R department, Mr. John Baller of the UK and fishing out of www.butlerarms.com caught a 7lbs Salmon on the troll and finished his day off with a 2lbs Sea Trout and 1 Junior, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com staying with the mixed bag, Mr. Gerry O’Sullivan of Cork caught a Grilse in the 4lbs class on the troll, and finished his day off with 3 Sea trout ranging from 2lbs down to 1 ¾ lbs, now to the total Sea Trout department, Mr. Shane Fanning and Mr. Eamon Neligan caught 5 Juniors which were all returned. Mr. Daniel Dinger Murphy of Cork, caught a nice basket of Sea Trout on the drift, fishing in a hired out boat from www.oshealoughcurrane.com  and in the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com Mr. Dara Tracey, caught 2 Sea trout ranging from Junior class up to 2.5lbs all caught on the fly, Wind NW light with reasonable cloud cover at times. Now for some late news, I was talking to Rick a Dutch Angler, and he was telling me that he caught a Sea Trout of 3 lbs 2 weeks ago.

I start with catch of the day, and that goes to 10 year old Master Cody O’Neil who caught 2 Juniors on the troll with his Father, staying with the Sea Trout, the James Brother’s from Boston Massachusetts USA, fishing with their Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net caught 2 Juniors and finished their day off with a fine Sea Trout in the 2lbs class all caught on the troll, now we cut across to the south side of the Lake and to the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com Mr Gareth O’Hare and Mr. Philip McBride caught 4 Sea Trout on the drift.

Fishing out of the Bog, Mr Aidan Fogarty caught 2 Sea trout on the troll ranging from 3lbs up to 4lbs.



In weather terms it was a filthy day on Lough Currane with heavy rain and a strong SW wind blowing all day, but this didn’t deter my noble Anglers from producing my Noble Sea Trout, Mr. Phil Staniforth   caught 2 fine Sea Trout ranging from 3lbs up to just over the 5lbs on the drift, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, and in the hired out boat department of www.oshealoughcurrane.com Mr. Jerome Dowling Fishing with Mr. Mike O’Shea of the Glencar  Fishery, caught 12 Sea Trout, two Sea Trout in the 2lbs class and a fine Sea Trout in the 4lbs class and the rest were in the Junior class, and I might add all were put back to fight another day, now we cut across the Lake to the south side. Mr. Danny Murray caught 1Junior on the fly, with his Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly and of www.lakelandshouse.com and in Frank’s, hired out boat department, two Anglers caught 4 Juniors. Wind as all ready stated.

There were a couple of Juniors caught by Mr. Patsy Quilligan and his good friend Mr. John Harrington of Cork, Staying with the Sea trout, Mr. Ted Robinson and his son Mr. Nigel Robinson of the UK, caught 2 Juniors, fishing with their Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly and of www.lakelandshouse.com and a guest fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan and of www.vincentsfishing.com caught a 2lbs Sea trout, with his first ever cast with a fly rod , in the Salmon department Mr Jim Young and Mr. Collin James of the UK caught a 5lbs Grilse on the troll with their Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer. Wind SW then veered NW light to fresh with strong gusts with the heavy showers.

Anglers saw some good fishing on Lough Currane today, and you could call it a great day for the C&R, which is great too see, now to the anglers that procured my Noble Game Fish, Mr. Patsy Quilligan of Cork, caught and returned  a fine 5lbs10ozs Sea trout and followed it with a 1.5lbs Sea Trout which was also put back and his good friend Mr. John Harrington also of Cork, caught and released a Sea Trout in the 2lbs class followed by 2 Juniors. Staying in the C&R department, Glenda Powell, World Champion fly caster was in good form with a 1.5lbs Sea trout followed by a Junior fishing with Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com Mr. Mike O’Shea of the Glencar Fishery, caught a specimen Sea Trout in the 7lbs class followed by 2 Juniors which were all sportingly put back and in the C&R Salmon department, Mr. Christy Mcguckin caught 2 Grilse on the fly, which he sportingly put both fish back to fight another day, I asked his Gillie Mr.Dominic McGillicuddy where did they catch their Fish, He replied on a hook. In the Sea Trout department, Mr. John Allen fishing with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly, caught 4 Sea Trout, 2 in the 2lbs class and finished off with 2 Juniors, Mr. Jim Young and Mr. Collin James fishing with their Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, caught 4 Juniors, Mr. Leslie Shiel and his Son Mr. Alan Shiel caught 2 Juniors with their Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net Mr. Ted Robinson and his Son Mr. Nigel Robinson caught a 7lbs Grilse on the troll with their Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly and of www.Lakelandshouse.com In the hired out boat department of www.oshealoughcurrane.com an Angler caught a lightening fresh Grilse on the drift.

Lough Currane was on the wild side, but this didn’t deter Anglers producing my Noble Game fish, In the Salmon department Lough Currane got another 1st and that honour goes to Mr. Leslie Sheil of Dublin who caught his first ever Salmon and may it be the first of many, Leslie and his son Alan were fishing with their Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net and staying with the Grilse/Salmon department French Angler, Mr. Judge  Jean-Baptiste fishing out of www.butlerarms.com caught a 6lbs Grilse, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Terence Wharton Snr, now to the Sea Trout department, Mr. Terence Wharton junior caught 6 Sea Trout all in the 1.5lbs class, and last but not least, Mr. Mr. Phil Staniforth caught 2 Juniors on the fly with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy. Wind SSE fresh to strong and overcast with light rain at times.

on the 1/7/11 Dr. Jim Comerford caught a Grilse on the troll. now to the poaching department, I was Reading on www.loughcurrane.com that Mr. Rod Robinson caught 2 Sea Trout, ranging from 1 3/4lbs up to 3lbs all caught on the fly.
2/7/11 In the dry fly department, Mr. John Harrington of Cork, caught a 2lbs Sea Trout

 There was some good action in the trolling and fly department and catch of the day goes to Mr. Jim Young and Mr. Collin James who caught a 5lbs Grilse on the troll, and two Sea Trout on the fly, fishing with their Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, also in good form Was Mr. Ted Robinson and his Son, Mr. Nigel Robinson, with six Sea Trout from Junior Class up to 2.5lbs fishing with their Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly and of www.lakelandshouse.com and just for the record both fishing parties were from the UK. Mr. Patsy Quilligan and Mr. John Harrington of Cork, were telling that in the past week, they have had a total of 15 Sea Trout from Junior class up to just over the 2lbs and all were returned, Mr. Kevin O’Sullivan of Lake rd Waterville, caught a 2.5 lbs Sea trout and finished his shift with a Junior, and late this evening he caught 1 Junior. Now we cut across Lough Currane to the North side, Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com reported to me that, Mr. Michael Solen caught four Trout. from 1.5lbs up to 5lbs, Mr. Mike Hennsey fishing with two Dutch Anglers, caught 2 Sea Trout of which the best was 4lbs, Mr. Bob priestly caught one Sea Trout in the 2lbs Class. Wind SW light to calm with reasonable cloud cover.

2/7/11

straight to catch of the day, and that goes to Mr. Mark doorman and his son, who caught his first Salmon weighing in at five lbs and his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly was telling me that they had 5 Juniors on the fly and finished the day off with 2lbs Sea Trout on the troll. Wind was SW light to calm with bright sunshine, other boats reported just a odd Junior.

Mr. Dermot Devereux, caught a 4lbs Grilse on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com and Neil was telling me they also lost one, Dr. Jim Comerford also caught a Grilse on the troll, on the Sea Trout front it was tough going with very little wind, and here are the anglers that make the Sea trout head lines. Mr. Bill Bullock and his good friend Malcolm, fishing in a hired out boat from www.lakelandshouse.com caught 3 Juniors, and a guest fishing with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly caught a Sea trout in the 2 lbs class on the drift.
