The wind was from the south before veering to south-southwest, accompanied by moderate cloud cover at times. Yesterday's weather included 1.6mm of rainfall, a maximum air temperature of 10.3°C, 6 hours and 6 minutes of sunshine, and no wind gusts.

 On February 25, 2025. There were no notable activities reported by the Currane anglers. Despite this, I am pleased to share some positive news: Mr. Patrick Fogarty of Centra, Waterville, is sponsoring the Ernest Appleby Cup for the Currane angler who catches the largest Salmon during the 2025 Salmon season, along with a €100 voucher for the season. Anglers are reminded to present their catch at Fogarty's Centra as proof.   

The weather today featured fresh winds from the west-northwest, shifting to the west, accompanied by heavy showers at intervals. Yesterday's weather data recorded a rainfall amount of 2.2mm, a maximum air temperature of 11.2°C, and 6 hours and 7 minutes of sunshine.

February 21, 2025. There was significant rainfall early this morning. Detailed information will be provided in tomorrow's notes. A Currane angler reported that he went down to bail his boat, which concluded his activities for the day. The average wind speed throughout the day was WSW 35 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 50 km/h, accompanied by intermittent showers. Yesterday's weather included a total rainfall of 5.8 mm, a maximum air temperature of 14.0°C, and 3 hours and 1 minute of sunshine.

February 20, 2025, a Currane angler reported extreme weather conditions on the lake. Additionally, he observed that the water level had risen by two feet. Based on my observations at the Butler Pool, I can confirm this. Talking of the rough weather the wind speeds are as follows, Wind SW average speed was 45km/h, gusts speed up to 70km/h, average gusts speeds 65km/h. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 16.4mm, maximum air temperature 12.8°C amount of sunshine none

The sky was overcast throughout the day, accompanied by light misty rain at times. The forecast does not look promising for the rest of the week. Yesterday's weather included 17.1 mm of rainfall, a maximum air temperature of 12.1°C, and no sunshine.

14/2/2025. Calmer waters on Lough Currane on this bright and sunny Valentine's Day. No Hen Salmon were caught or released, and the same applies to my Noble gentlemen the Salmon. You could say the Lough Currane anglers didn’t have the Valentines Day touch.  The wind was gentle from the South and veered SSW, SSE, SW, S, SSE, SE. Yesterday’s weather included 2.4mm of rainfall, a maximum air temperature of 10.2°C, and no sunshine.

13 February 2025: The anglers were driven off Lough Currane early due to strong southeast winds, with speeds reaching up to 80 km/h and an average speed of 45 km/h. This was accompanied by a significant amount of rain, as evidenced in the attached photograph. Dominic catches first Salmon of the season on the Waterville Fishery 

On March  2, 2025, Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, a dedicated angler and guide at www.fishingwithdom.com successfully caught a fine 9-pound Salmon on fly rod, marking the first wild Currane Salmon of the season. The weather conditions were mostly sunny with a southeast wind ranging from light to fresh. The previous day recorded a rainfall amount of 0.1mm, with a maximum air temperature of 11.1°C. I apologize for the lack of reports last night due to unforeseen technical difficulties with my laptop, which have now been resolved.

2/2/2025 six Currane boats set out after a day of rest. Reports indicate that there were several instances of catch and release of Kelts while trolling. The weather was variable with gentle to moderate winds from the NW to SSW occasionally gusting between 31 km/h and 33 km/h, and bright sunshine for most of the day. Yesterday's weather recorded a rainfall amount of 31.5 mm, a maximum air temperature of 12.1°C, and no sunshine. Additionally, a severe wind warning has been issued for tomorrow, Monday, from midnight until 21:59, with South or Southwest winds expected to reach gale force 8. ?
