A guest caught 4 Sea Trout in the 1.5lbs class fishing with his Gillie Mr. Sylvester Donnelly




In the Salmon department, Mr. Michael Smith and Son Sean, fishing with their gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and www.oshealoughcurrane.com  caught a fine 7lbs salmon on the drift, which they sportingly put back and they also lost a Grilse. In the Sea Trout and fly department Mr. Dave Ecclestone of the UK caught a 3lbs Sea Trout on the drift, also in good form with a Sea Trout in the 3lbs Class was Mr. John Cronin, fishing in a hired out boat from www.lakelandshouse.com Mr. Richard Collins also caught a fine Sea Trout of 2lbs fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent Appleby and of www.salmonandseatrout.com Wind WNW then veered WSW light to fresh and overcast with the odd bit of sun breaking through at times.

Breaking News just in.
In the C&R department Mr. Patsy Quilligan of Cork caught a fine 8lbs Salmon, on the fly


Mr. Liam Ellis was The toast of the Salmon department today when he caught a fine 8lbs Salmon on the troll and finished day off with a fine 2lbs Sea Trout,  now to the Sea Trout department, Mr.Tom long caught a fine Sea Trout in the 4lbs class on the drift, also in good form was Mr. Michael Smith and his son Sean fishing with their gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught 1 Sea Trout in the 2lbs Class, also caught on the fly, staying in the Sea Trout fly department, Mr. Bill Rushby fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, caught 3 Sea Trout, all in the 2lbs class. A guest caught a 1.5lbs Sea Trout, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan of www.vincentsfishing.com    

Late news.
Mr.Tommy Duggan, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, caught 2 Sea Trout ranging from 2lbs up to 4lbs all caught on the fly.



A guest fishing with his Gillie Mr. Terence Wharton Snr caught a Sea Trout in the 3lbs class on the drift, which they sportingly put back, and staying with my Noble Sea trout, in the hire out boat department of www.oshealoughcurrane.com  an angler caught a Sea Trout in the 2lbs class. Wind NW light to fresh and overcast with the bit of sun breaking through.

Late News
Mr. Rod Robinson caught a 1.5lbs Sea Trout on the drift, and last but not least Mr. Dave Ecclestone of the UK caught a nice Sea Trout in the 3lbs class, also in the drift.



Mr. Sean Smith and his Father Mr. Michael Smith fishing out of www.butlerarms.com were in great form again in the specimen Sea trout department, when Sean, caught a fine 11.5lbs Sea Trout on the fly, which they sportingly put back and they finished the day off with a Sea trout in the 2.5lbs class, as always they were fishing with their Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com  and staying with the Sea Trout, Mr. Liam Ellis, of Cork caught a Sea Trout in the 3 lbs Class, and his good friend Mr Gerry O’Sullivan of Cork, also caught a Sea Trout in the 2lbs class. Two anglers fishing out www.oshealoughcurrane.com  caught a Sea Trout about 1.5lbs, Mr. Antony Tyler fishing out of Coffee’s Bay caught a Sea Trout of 2lbs and rose a good few more, in the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com  Mr. Roger Simpson caught a 5lbs and 2.5lbs Sea Trout on the drift. Now to the Salmon department, Mr. Donal O’Shea of www.curranelodge.ie caught a fine 9.5lbs Salmon on the troll, and there was also 1 Salmon caught by an Angler fishing on his own. Wind NW then veered WSW light to fresh and overcast with the odd light shower.

Well all the Salmon head lines go to Mr. Sean Smith of the UK and his Dad, to be more precise his Dad, because he caught a cracker of a Salmon, weighing in at 10lbs caught on the drift, plus they also caught a Sea Trout in the 2lbs Class which they put back and staying with the Smith Family, as I was late coming in to take their photo, their Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.osheloughcurrane.com took centre stage, now to the total Sea Trout department there were a few Sea Trout caught on the drift but catch of the day goes to Frank from Tipperary, who caught 3 fine Sea Trout ranging from 3lbs down 1.5lbs, also in good form was Mr. Roger Simpson who caught a fine Sea Trout of 4lbs at the Ledge in the Mouth of the Commeragh, with his Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.lakelandshouse.com  Wind WSW fresh and overcast with the odd light shower.

Lough Currane kept its reputation up today as the premier Sea trout Lake in theses Islands and for good reason because Mr. Sean Smith of the  UK and fishing out of www.butlerarms.com  broke the record Sea Trout for the Waterville Lake and Fishery, when he caught a magnificent 13lbs 5ozs Sea Trout on a Bibio on the drift in Edry Bay with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com and Sean was telling me what a battle he had with his Noble Sea Trout, as I cast my fly over the water the next thing I knew  my rod was bent double and my fish bored down so hard I thought I was in the bottom, because he was as solid as a rock, but in the end he took a almighty run and then I knew I was into some fish be it Salmon or Sea Trout and as we all know now it was the record Sea Trout, All I can say is congratulations on a cracker of a Sea Trout. Now staying with the Sea Trout Mr. Dave Ecclestone of the UK caught a Sea Trout in the 2lbs class fishing with his Gillie Alister. On the River Inny Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.Lakelandshouse.com caught a 5lbs Salmon on the fly. Wind N and very strong with light showers at times and it was late morning before they headed out

Lough Currane was at a standstill thanks too a strong Westerly coming down the Lake this morning, but come afternoon the wind dropped and veered WNW and the race was on, and who do you think won the race for my Noble Salmon, yes you have it, they were at it again, Mr. Mark Knowles of the UK and his good friend Finbar from Co Cork , caught 3 Salmon ranging from 6lbs up to 8lbs all caught on the fly and as always they were fishing with their Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, when they left the Mouth of the Commeragh Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan and of www.vincentsfishing.com  took over, And it wasn’t long before is client, Mr. Marcel Guillou of the UK caught a lightening fresh 10lbs Salmon. Wind as already stated, with heavy showers throughout the day, amount of rainfall 5.9mm, max air temperature 13.2c.
