                           Mr. James McGillicuddy RIP

It is with great sadness that I have to report the sad passing of Mr. James McGillicuddy RIP of Lohar, Waterville and of the Waterville Fishery and hatchery. James worked at the Hatchery with his colleagues for a good many years as well as looking after the streams, I can say without any fear of contradiction the Passing of James to the upper Heavenly hatcheries is their great gain and our great loss. So, on behalf of our Chairman Mr. Michael Roden and all the Waterville Hatchery team, the Currane Anglers and all the good people of Caherdaniel, Waterville and all good people of Kerry, we send our Sincere Sympathies to all his family and friends.

              James McGillicuddy RIP

The Pictures tell the story!

12/10/2021 Well the 2021 season has come to an end with only two boats out manipulating their skills on the flat calm waters of Lough Currane and for all their efforts they reported a few Brown trout, but as you can see by the photos they did well to get that bit of action. Well, another Covid Salmon and Sea Trout Season has past and please God come the 2022 season we will have a normal season. Now I would like to say a big thank you to you the followers of No Spin No Fly’s just Facts Zone, because without you the good readers and supporters of the Waterville fishery there would be no blog and I thank you for all your fishing story’s and complaining especially over the you know what at the beginning 2021 Spring season. Now another big thank you goes to Mr. Myles Kelly and all the Inland fisheries team for their great support throughout the year and last but not least on a personal note, I must give a big thank you to Mr. Paul Bourke of the Trout and Salmon Magazine. I think that’s about it for this 2021 Season and let’s hope 2022 will bring our tourists back to Ireland, especially the Waterville Fishery and I look forward to reporting to you on the No Spin No Fly’s just Facts Zone in 2022 so stay safe and have a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

 Decaffeinated Car!

11/10/2021 There were a couple of boats out from the Southside manipulating their skills on this flat calm and sunny day and going by the quietness of their post and telegraphs I take it their fly lines were all quiet and that’s not surprising considering the conditions.

An air birds eye view of the World famous Butler pool and the Currane River and Lough Currane!

10/10/2021 You could say today the Currane drifters were reflecting on their casting on this flat calm and bright sunny day and one doesn’t need to be a rocket scientist to know today’s scores, so we will leave it at that. Now we head for the sky, you may well ask why, well it’s simple, in last night’s report I took a video of the World famous Butlers Pool and even though I say it myself it was not bad, until I was brought down to earth and as I said in yesterday’s notes the truth of the pudding is in the filming as you can see in this video.

Wind NNW light and variable and followed by bright sunshine all day. Amount of rainfall yesterday 64.7 mm and as you can see by the video the truth of the pudding is in the filming of the world Famous Butler Pool

8/10/2021 Just one Currane drifter out and as my phone was all quiet, we will take it that their lines were slack this day and after the big flood that isn’t surprising and to give you some idea how big the flood was the Inny is still in flood this evening. Wind SSE light and overcast and a fair bit of rain throughout the day.

7/10/2021 The Currane drifters drifted straight  back to the high stool toady and for a good reason, there was a strong Southerly wind blowing across the lake as the Heavens opened and come early evening there was an almighty flood coming down the Inny. The video you see was taken tonight and gives some idea of the amount of rainfall.

1/10/2021 Lough Currane drifters were all quiet and for good reason, they weren’t out there manipulating their skills after last night’s  celebrating the traditional Bacon and Cabbage end of season party in the famous Lobster Bar, I can tell you the drink was flowing like the Inny and a good party was had by all and on behalf of all the Currane Anglers I would like to thank  the Management and Staff of The  Lobster for the great food and crack last night.
