There were just a few Juniors caught but too be fair too my Noble Anglers it was cold out there with heavy showers with a mixture of hailstones, Wind NW light too fresh, but with all that Mr. Jim Sayers and his Son, in the last 3 days caught 20 Sea Trout ranging from Juniors up to 3 lbs and also rose a few good ones, and last but not least, Mr. Carey, of Spencer Iowa USA, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent Appleby and of www.salmonandseatrout.com  caught 2 Trout, now we Head too the lobster Bar for the W.F.D.G Draw for the Car, and the winner was Mr. Liam Musgrave of  Caherciveen, now too the Angling Cups and the winners for the first Salmon brought into the Lobster Bar, and caught on the Fly, goes Too Mr. Mark Knowles of the UK and his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of www.fishingwithdom.com  took the Jim O’Sullivan Cup on his behalf and it was presented too Dominic by Jim's Son, Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan and of  www.vincentsfishing.com  the Lobster Bar Cup for the Biggest Fish, went too Mr. Michael O’Sullivan of Waterville boats and of watervilleboats@gmail.com And Michael also won the photo catch of the year, and it was presented too Michael by the Landlady of the Lobster Bar Mrs Sheila O’Carroll. Well its time too close 2012 Salmon and Sea Trout Season, and on a personal note, I would like too thank all the team of the Inland Fisheries and of www.fisheriesireland.ie for their help this season and as they do every season, and last but not least too you the Anglers for taking your time too read the Waterville Fishery Notes, I hope you enjoyed reading them as much as I did writing them, so on that note I close this 2012 Season and I look forward too seeing you on January 17th 2013 That is your ration for this Season, from your Gillie/Guide and the Waterville fishery. Lough Currane was flat calm so you don’t have too be a rocket scientist too know the Sea Trout results, wind or no wind my Noble Anglers still failed miserably in their duties. Calm and overcast.

Mr. Christopher O'Sullivan
Today is a Sad Day for Lough Currane and the Waterville Fishery, because we had the sad news, that one of Waterville’s renowned fly Anglers Mr. Christopher O’Sullivan of the UK and Waterville, past away at the tender age of 43 on Friday 28 of last month, and on behalf of all we Anglers I would like pay our condolences too Christopher’s First Cousins Neil and Tom O’Shea and all his Family and friends, well Christopher you may be gone, but your not forgotten. Too all you Salmon and Sea Trout Blogger’s out there, which Christopher was one, I will not be putting today’s fishing notes until tomorrow, you can say today is Christopher’s day.

First of Many of my Noble Salmon

Straight too the Salmon Department and fish of the day, and that goes too Mr. Paul Lentelink who caught his first ever Salmon on the Fly while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan and of www.vincentsfishing.com now too the Sea Trout department Mr. patsy Quilligan of Cork, caught a nice bag of Juniors, and other Anglers did catch a few Juniors, now we cut across the Valley too the River Inny and in the striking, were Mr. Mike Teahan, he caught a fine Salmon on the Spin, also in good form was, Mr. Noel Clancy of Waterville and His Gillie Sian Brain and of www.kbfishingireland.com with two Salmon caught on the fly, and last but not least a Guest fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of www.fishingwithdom.com caught 2 Salmon all were Grilse. There Was a great party in the Lobster this evening, and on all behalf of all the anglers I would like thank, Mrs Shelia O’Carroll and the Staff of the Lobster Bar for a great night and a good party was had by all, Mr. Brian O’Carroll presented a framed photograph of Mr. Mike Dwyer and his 15 lbs Salmon,  too Mike, in memory of his Father Mr. Denis O’Carroll, the rest of the Trophies will be presented on the very last day of the Sea Trout season on the 12 of October, and going by tonight the crack should be good.

 www.lakelandshouse.com take the head lines upstream and down downstream, so we will start in Franks hired out boat department, there were 4 Juniors caught by the Luxembourg Party on the drift, now we cut across the Lake too the North side and the trolling department, Mr. Nick Kennedy, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and of  tomfishing@eircom.net caught and released a 1lbs Sea Trout, now we cut across back south and upstream too Copal lake, Ernie and Bob, from Luxembourg  fishing with their Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly and of www.lakelandshouse.com  caught a fine Grilse of 5.5 lbs and finished their day off with 3 fine Sea Trout, ranging from 2 lbs up to 3.5 lbs.

Straight too the Sea Trout department and the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com The Luxembourg Party caught 10 Sea trout ranging from Juniors up to 4lbs and one of their boats was guided by their Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.lalelandshouse.com staying with Lakelandshouse.com, Mr Clive McDonald caught 1 Sea Trout of 1.5 lbs on the drift, also in good form was Mr. Robin Taccki caught a fine Sea Trout of 4 lbs on the drift. Now we cut across the Lake too the North Side, and the trolling department, for a mixture of Sea Trout and Salmon, Mr. Nick Kennedy, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and of tomfishing@eircom.net caught 2 Sea trout ranging from Juniors  up to 3 lbs which were all put back, and finished their day off with a fine Salmon of 10 lbs which they kept, now we head down stream too the Famous Butler Pool and of www.watervillegolflinks.ie  where I believe there was some great excitement, when my Noble Angler had his Salmon fly rod bent double, the only problem is trying too find out what was on the end of the rod, all I know is the Anglers face went as red as a Prawn as his Gillie tried too wriggle my Noble Salmon into clear Waters.Wind NW light too fresh with reasonable cloud cover.

On the weather front we a have fresh too strong Northerly winds with heavy showers at times. Now to the Bacon and Cabbage department, the Lobster Bar will be having their Annual end of Salmon Fishing Season party and the presentation of the Cups this Sunday, and a bit more but that is a surprise so make sure that your there, and all our welcome.

My Noble Sea Trout take all the fly headlines, so lets get down too the facts, Mr. Peter Liddle fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com  caught a fine Sea Trout just under the 5lbs, now too Sea Trout of the day and that goes too Mr. Paul Hyland, who caught a cracker of a specimen Sea Trout weighing in at 7lbs2ozs on the north side of the Lake, Paul had a good battle with his Noble Sea trout, approximately 20 minutes too dispatch this fine specimen, and luck was on Paul’s side, as he netted his Sea Trout, his cast fell apart, and after his fine catch Paul did the same drift again and it wasn’t long before his fly rod was bent double into a fine Salmon, but alas his Noble Gentlemen the Salmon won the day too fight another day. Now we head upstream too Lough Derriana, Mr. Peter Coleman-Smith and Friends caught 12 Juniors and 20 Brownies between the two Boats, now we head down stream too Lough Namona, Mr. Denis Dennehy, caught 18 Brownies too his rod.

Straight too the hired out boat department of tomfishing@eircom.net Mr. Lindsay Richards  of Chester England, caught a find 2lbs Sea Trout on the drift and staying with Tom’s Hired out boat department Mr. Peter Coleman-Smith caught a fine 4lbs Sea Trout which he sportingly put back too fight another day, and his good friends fishing in another of Tom’s Boats, caught 4 Juniors on the drift. Wind NW fresh with bright sunshine all day. Just for the record, Mr. Jim Sayers of Waterville, had a good basket of Sea Trout on the fly fishing on Lough Derriana a few days ago..

Now we cut across the Lake too the south side and the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com Mr. Steve Nation and his son Steve, caught 4 Sea Trout up to 1.5lbs also in good form was Mr. Frank Joye, caught 3 Sea Trout all in the 2.5lbs class. Over cast this morning and bright sunshine this afternoon, wind SW then NW and veered again into the west.

All the Action comes from www.butlerarms.com the Moor Family, had a cracker of a day in the Salmon department, Mr. C. Moor and Mr. D. Moor, caught 2 fine Salmon on the troll, with their Gillie Mr. Mike Dwyer, and all caught before Lunch, so the paparazzi could do their work. But the action didn’t stop there in the Afternoon Mr. Moor Snr and his son, fishing with their Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught a fine 5lbs Salmon on the troll, so as you can imagine the Paparazzi were called in again, now too the Sea Trout Department, Mr. Lindsay Richards, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and of tomfishing@eircom.net caught a fine 4lbs Sea Trout on the drift, Wind North light with reasonable cloud cover.

We start off with the Celtic Sea Trout project, and of www.celticseatrout.com  Mr. James Henderson, Director of the River Nith Fishery in Scotland and of www.river-nith.com caught a fine 4lbs Grilse on the fly, with his good friend, Dr. Paddy Gargan, of the Inland fisheries Ireland and of www.fisheriesireland.ie and just for the record they were fishing out of www.oshealoughcurrane.com and staying with oshealoughcurrane.com, Enrico from Italy, caught 3 Juniors with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com and Neil was telling that they rose a good few Sea Trout, now too the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com Mr Peter Purcell and Mr. Tim Gleeson, both caught a Junior each, and just for the record other anglers reported catching and releasing the odd Junior, now we head down stream too the Famous Butler Pool and of www.watervillegolflinks.ie an angler caught a fine Grilse.

It was a slack day on Lough Currane, with light misty rain at times, my Noble Game Fish were in a  lethargic mood, mind you Mr. Patsy Quilligan of Cork, would beg too differ, and being a renowned  angler, Patsy came up trumps again with 2 Juniors and a few Brown Trout too his basket, Patsy also reported too me that he caught 3 Sea Trout late yesterday evening. Just for the record over the weekend in the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com Saturday 1st Mr. Michael McGrath, caught 2 Juniors and his good  friends Trevor and Tom, also caught 2 Juniors. And staying in the www.lakelandshouse.com department, on Sunday, Mr. Kevin Synott and his good friend Gareth, caught  3 juniors.

Straight too the Sea Trout department, Mr. Liam Ellis, of Waterville, caught a 2lbs Sea Trout on the drift, and for the rest of the anglers fishing on Lough Currane, they are all barred for their lack of Sea Trout, I know the feeling, and Cronenburg is the only beer able to do this, on that note we head for the Spinner and Salmon department, Dr. Jim Comerford caught a fine 5lbs Grilse, on the troll, now we head up stream too the Commeragh River and the Sea trout department, Mr. Mike Teahan, the matador of the Bull ring Tralee, caught 2 fine sea Trout on the Garden fly.

straight too the Sea Trout department, A guest, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of www.fishingwithdom.com caught two fine Sea Trout ranging from 2lbs up to 5lbs on the fly, also in good form was Mr. David Burton fishing with his Gillie Tom O’Shea and @ tomfishing@eircom.net   caught a fine 2lbs Sea Trout, which he sportingly put back my Noble Sea Trout, too fight the elements of the upcoming spawning season, Now we travel across the Valley too the River Inny, there was a nice spate coming down the river,  Local Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer caught a fine Salmon and released my Noble Gentlemen Salmon so he could also do his duty in the upcoming spawning season.

Now we cut across the Vallye too the River Inny and catch of the day, and that goes too Mr. Tim Luddy of Co Cork, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.lakelandshouse.com caught 3 fine Salmon and just for the record there was a good spate coming down the Inny, and there were a few Anglers manipulating up there and either they failed miserably in catching my Noble Salmon, or, and I am sure is the case they have failed too report their catches and the same goes for Lough Currane.

Again the Watervile Fishery came up trumps, so lets go straight too the action in the Salmon department, and my Salmon of the day, that goes too 9 year old,Master Sandy Innes of Edinburgh Scotland, who caught his ever Salmon, weighing in at 6.5 lbs and may it be the first of many, then it was the turn of his Father, Mr Collin Innes who finished their day off with a fine Grilse of 5 ¼ lbs, both Salmon were caught on the troll and their Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of www.fishingwithdom.com was telling me that Sandy, caught his first Sea Trout on the fly, yesterday and finished his day off with a Brown Trout, also caught on the fly, so you can say Sandy, captured the grand slam of fishing. Now too the hired out boat department of Waterville Boats and @ watervilleboats@gmail.com in the specimen Sea Trout department, Mr. Tommy Duffy of Co Fermanagh caught a fantastic 9.2lbs Sea Trout on the fly. Waterville Fishery was virtually at a stand still because of the storm force SE Wind blowing, even though a couple of boats did get out first thing this morning but it wasn’t long before all boats headed for dry land, but at least one Angler did see some good action in the Sea Trout department, Mr. Tom Duggan fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of www.fishingwithdom.com caught 8 Sea Trout ranging from Juniors up to 4lbs and just for the record, anglers couldn’t fish the Inny until this evening, because there was a massive flood coming down the river. Mr. Andrew Brown was in good foe again in the Salmon department when he caught a fine 5lbs Salmon on the fly with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestley. In the Sea Trout department renowned Cork Angler Mr. Patsy Quilligan had a reasonable good action this August Bank holiday with 8 Sea Trout of which the best was in the 3lbs class and rose 3 Salmon and lost a cracker of a Salmon, when asked what went wrong, Patsy, replied in real Cork Fashion I will leave the rest too you imagination, staying in the Sea trout department Mr. Gerry O’Sullivan of Cork caught 1 Sea Trout in the Junior class, now to the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com Mr. Barry Keenan caught a 1.5 Sea trout. Made Another reasonable flood this morning, so we will head out onto Lough Currane, sadly my Noble Anglers failed in their duties on the day shift, on the evening shift still waiting for the odd report, so now we head across the Valley too the River Inny and there was a fine 9lbs Salmon caught by Mr. Michael Roden, as always Michael was fishing with his Gillie Mr. Junior Scully. or I should say the King of the River Inny and I have spoken by the authority of Mr. Junior Scully

No reports of any great catches on Lough Currane, my Noble Olympics are taking centre stage, or more too the point my Noble anglers are failing miserably in their duties. So we will head up stream too the famous Butler Pool and of www.watervillegolflinks.ie Dr. Tim Gleason caught 3 fine Salmon as you can see Tim gave the London Olympics a miss.
