All quiet on the SW front. It was a quiet day on Lough Currane in the Salmon and Sea Trout Department, so we will head for the Brown Trout department, Mr. Fergus Keane, of Australia, caught a fine 2 lbs. Brown Trout on the fly, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com Wind N light with reasonable cloud cover.

Lough Currane recorded another first in the fly department when Mr. Anulal Hitmiang or as we call him Tam, caught his first ever 11 lbs. Salmon on the fly, while fishing with his Father-in-law and renowned Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan and of www.vincentsfishing.com Wind N light with bright sunshine all day.

First in the striking zone in the Salmon department, was Mr. Michael Shultz, who caught a fine 7 ¾ lbs. Salmon on the troll, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com now to the fly department, Mr. Tommy Duggan of Kilkenny, caught a fine 10 lbs. The German flag was ruling the waves on Lough Currane today in the Salmon department, first in the striking zone was Mr. Michael Shultz of Germany, caught a fine 10 lbs. Salmon on the troll while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com now we cut across to the south side of the Lake and staying with the trolling department, Mr. Axel Zurbugge of Germany, fishing out of www.butlerarms.com caught a 7 ¾ lbs. Salmon, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Sylvester Donnelly and of http://www.salmonandseatrout.com/anglersrest.html and for the rest of we anglers no comment. Wind SW light and overcast.

Mr. Frank Donnelly

There was some good fishing on the Lake and here are today’s facts, Straight to the Inner Capal and the fly department first in the striking zone was renowned Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.lakelandshouse.com who caught a fine 8 lbs. Salmon. Once Franks fish was dispatched, Frank headed home, and Mr. Liam Ellis of Waterville took over, and it wasn’t long before his fly rod was bent double into a fine 11 lbs. Salmon and the rest is history, said Liam as he celebrated  with a pint in the Waterville Inn. Now to the catch of the day and that goes to renowned Dutch angler Mr. Tim Van Der Laan, who caught a fine 7 lbs. specimen Sea Trout on the troll, while fishing with his gillie Mr. Terence Wharton and just for the record Tim has been coming to the Waterville Fishery for 39 years, fair play to him.

There were a few nice rod benders on Lough Currane today so lets get down to the action, first in the striking zone was Mr. Dan Sugrue of Waterville and Tralee, caught a fine Salmon on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Brod O’Sullivan of Stella Maris guest house Waterville, now for a mixture of troll and fly and Salmon and specimen Sea Trout, Dr, Ernie Smith, of Cooks Town Co Tyrone, fishing with his gillie Mr. Michael O’Sullivan and of watervilleboats@gmail.com caught a fine 10 lbs. Salmon on the troll, and finished their day off with a fine 7 ¾  specimen Sea Trout on the south side drifting by Water Lillie Bay, and staying on the south side and the fly department, Mr. Gerard O’Sullivan fishing with his Gillie Mr. Terence Wharton Jnr caught his first ever Salmon on the fly, so congratulations to him and may it be the first of many, also in good form was Mr. Tim Van Der laan, of Holland, fishing with his gillie Mr. Terence Wharton Snr, caught a fine Salmon on the fly, and just for the record both anglers, hooked their Salmon at the same time in Capal, and last but not least an angler fishing on his own caught a Salmon on the troll also caught on the south side by the Table Rock. Wind SW fresh and overcast with the odd light shower.

There was some good action on Lough Currane today, so lets get down to the facts, first in the striking zone, was local Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of www.fishingwithdom.com caught a fine Salmon on the troll, staying in the trolling department Mr. Hughie Reid fishing out of www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught a 7lbs Salmon, and my catch of the day goes to Dr. Tim O’ Connor, who caught a fine 9 lbs, Salmon, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and of tomfishing@eircom.net Wind SW light and variable with reasonable cloud cover at times.

Straight to the fly department, Dr. Tim O’Connor of Cork and Waterville, fishing with his gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomfishing@eircom.net caught a fine 10 lbs Salmon, and staying with the fly, on the evening shift, Mr. Martin Lanigan O’Keeffe, fishing with his gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and of www.fishingwithdom.com  caught a 7 lbs Salmon. Now we go upstream to the Commeragh River, Mr. Kevin Brain of www.kbfishingireland.com caught a fine 7 lbs Salmon. Wind NW fresh with reasonable cloud cover with the odd heavy shower.

It may have been a bright sunny day for my noble Salmon, but this didn't stop Mr. Gareth Brain of www.kbfishingireland.com  from catching a lightening fresh 12.5 lbs Salmon, caught  on the troll, or you could say that Gareth and Mr. Ivor O’ Connor of www.ivorsfood.com scored 180 and that’s no Bull. Wind WSW fresh.

15/4/13 Breaking news 9 lbs Specimen Sea Trout caught

Again it was a wild day on Lough Currane and come 2pm all the boats on the north side were blown off the lake, but the same couldn’t be said on the south side, where Mr. Tim Van Der laan, of Holland, fishing with his gillie Mr. Terence Wharton, caught the first specimen Sea Trout of the 2013 season, on the troll, weighing in at 9lbs. Wind SW strong and overcast with heavy rain and just for the record, there is a good flood coming down the Commeragh.

It was a wild day on Lough Currane today with a strong SW wind blowing down the Lake and all fishing stations on the north side were at a standstill, but the same couldn't be said for the south side and for good reason, Cork anglers Mr. Vincent Donnelly, and his friends, caught a fine 8 lbs salmon on the troll down by the Table Rock, they were in a hired out boat from www.lakelandshouse.com

It was a wild day on Lough Currane with a strong SSE wind blowing then veered SSW fresh to strong, but this didn’t’t deter Mr. Ken Towner, of the UK and Waterville, procuring 2 Salmon on the fly, ranging from 8lbs up 12.5 lbs while fishing with his gillie Mr. Vincent O'Sullivan and of www.vincentsfishing.com  and I can tell you there was one hell of a party in the Lobster Bar, with the champagne flowing down my Noble Anglers. Now for quote of the day, in the words of  Mr. Ken Towner, I am not going home until I catch a Salmon, well Ken all I can say is Adios Amigo until the next time.

Mr. Jim Sayers 

There was some good action on Lough Currane today in the Salmon department, first in the striking zone was Mr. Jim Sayers of Waterville, caught a lightening fresh 10 ¾ lbs salmon on the troll on the North side of the Lake and staying on the North side, Mr. Peter Keenan of Tipperary, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly, also caught a 10 lbs Salmon on the troll, wind calm SW then veered NW this evening.

Sion takes the honours 

All the head lines go to Mr. Ivor O’Connor of www.ivorsfood.com  and his gillie Mr. Sion Brain of www.kbfishingireland.com and for good reason they caught a fine 11 lbs Salmon on the troll and Ivor had one hell of a battle with my Noble Salmon. Wind SW light and mild with rain this morning and fine bright sunshine this afternoon.

All the head lines go to Mr. Gareth Brain and his brother Sion of Waterville  and of www.kbfishingireland.com and for good reason, they went out a 5 pm and were in by 7 pm with two Salmon, ranging from 8 lbs up to 14 lbs and just for the record they were both caught on the troll, sorry about the poor quality of the photo, but as you can see it was dark. Wind SSE light and overcast with light showers at times.

My noble anglers failed in the Salmon department, so we will go straight to the Sea Trout department, Mr. Denis Dennehy caught a fine 1 lbs Sea Trout off the point of  Grassy Island and also caught a few Brown Trout down by the Reeds and his quote of the day was I had a good welcome back and a good soaking.

5/4/13 Breaking News Sea Trout on the take.

C&R Sea Trout department and the hired out boat department of www.lakelandshouse.com PJ and Henry Keating of Co Meath, caught 2 Sea Trout ranging from 2lbs up to 2.5lbs and 1 Brown Trout of 1.5lbs all caught on the fly yesterday.

Another cold day on Lough Currane and no reports on any rod benders. Wind NE light with bright sunshine all day

Straight to the fly department, Mr. Dave Eccelstone of the UK caught a fine 10 lbs Salmon fishing with his Gillie Mr.John Young, and in the trolling department, French Anglers from Paris, Mr. Pierre Loyer, and Arnrult  Gouben, caught 2 salmon both in the 10 lbs class wind SE fresh with reasonable cloud cover.
