 25/8/2026. A lively twist is exactly what the Currane doctor ordered, so let’s inject a good dose of humour into this otherwise comatose report. Just three Currane boats out today and all quiet in every department. In fact, the lake was so silent you’d swear the fish were holding a union meeting and declared a 24‑hour strike. And yes, you are absolutely correct, it’s straight to the Currane anglers’ weather chart. A gentle and variable ESE wind drifted about like it couldn’t make up its mind, followed by the odd shower just to keep anglers awake. By the afternoon the sun took full control, shining down with that smug “I told you I’d show up eventually” attitude. Yesterday’s weather: rainfall, a trace (barely enough to wet a midge), maximum air temperature 20.3°C, amount of sunshine 2 hours and 5 minutes. Currane Anglers’ humour of the day, It was so quiet on the lake that one angler swore he saw a salmon yawn. Another said the only thing he hooked was a sunburn. And a third claimed the fish w ere lying low because they didn’t want to be caught on a Tuesday, apparently even trout believe in a four‑day work week.

 24/8/2026. There were three Currane boats out today and, sadly, not a single report of any C&R Salmon, Seatrout, or even Brown Trout. On that rather negative note, we’ll head straight to the Currane weather chart, a variable gentle to moderate easterly wind, veering ESE, SE, and SSE, with good cloud cover throughout the day and the sun breaking through at intervals. Yesterday’s weather: rainfall 0.0mm, maximum air temperature 19.2°C, and 12 hours 8 minutes of glorious sunshine. Now to the lost and found: posted originally on the 5th of July, a landing net and two rod holders were found on the wall down at the bog. 23/8/2026. No reports from the Currane anglers today, and to be fair it’s hardly shocking, the lake is so low you’d nearly need a periscope to spot a salmon. As for the conditions, they weren’t exactly singing the angler’s anthem either: a Light to Gentle variable wind doing a full tour of the compass, ESE, SE, SSW, SW, and not a cloud in sight to give any hope of cover. Still, as I always say, just because nothing was reported doesn’t mean some quiet Currane angler didn’t sneak out and produce a wild fish while the rest of us were scratching our heads. 22/8/2026. There were four boats out on Currane today, and sadly there were no reports of any C&R Sea Trout or Salmon.On the Currane Anglers Weather Chart: a variable gentle NE breeze drifted across the lake, followed by bright sunshine from dawn to dusk. 21/8/2026. Good news from the Currane anglers in all departments. There was at least one Salmon caught on the troll, one C&R Sea Trout, and a good number of Brown Trout caught on the drift, enough to keep the reels ticking and the spirits high.

From there we head to the C&R River Inny. The Inny Farmer reports there was just one C&R angler out this morning, and he gave no report, you could say his mouth was as tight as his fly line.

 There’s great news on the Waterville horizon: two of my loyal subscribers are arriving tomorrow all the way from Bavaria, Germany. They’re heading out fishing with their Boatman, and fair play to them — they told me they discovered Waterville from watching my videos. They love every minute of them, and that’s why they’re making the pilgrimage to the home of the Currane. They even said they probably watch your reports too, Vincent — so you can take a bow. It’s not every day the Currane Fishery gets international fans flying in because of our ramblings, but there you have it. Waterville fame spreading across Europe, one cast at a time.

20/8/2026. Just two Brown Trout boats out on the lake today, both manipulating their fly‑casting skills with conviction, and by Jove, each boat finished with a fine basket of Brown Trout. From there we head to the Inny Farmer’s beat. I only saw one fly C&R angler on the Inny and received no report, so we’ll assume the river kept its secrets today. Currane Anglers Weather Front: A moderate to fresh NNE wind dominated, accompanied by good cloud cover and passing showers, with the sun breaking through at intervals throughout the day. Yesterday’s Weather, Rainfall: 2.8mm, Maximum air temperature, 18.0°C, Sunshine, 5 hours and 2 minutes. 18/8/2026. The Currane anglers were all quiet, and I’m sure a good few had their C&R hats on as they headed for the Inny. Just for the record, the Inny Farmer reported one C&R Salmon caught on the fly.Now we go to the Currane anglers’ weather chart, wind variable, Gentle NW veering W and WNW, with good cloud cover followed by light showers and sunshine breaking through at times.Yesterday’s weather, rainfall 1.6mm, maximum air temperature 19.0°C, and the amount of sunshine was a grand total of 4 minutes.

 17/8/2026. I’ll start with a quick backdate, one angler had a fine session yesterday, landing a few lovely Brown Trout around Church Island. As for today’s action, there were no reports so far of any C&R Salmon or Sea Trout, though a few nice Brown Trout were caught on the drift. Now to the good news, the Inny Farmer is in flying form, and with good reason. Over the past five days he reports a good number of C&R Salmon caught on both fly and spin, which is great to hear after the recent water.Currane Anglers Weather Chart:, Wind variable, light to gentle WNW, veering W, WSW, and SW.  16/8/2026. The Salmon Currane anglers were all quiet, the Currane Seatrout anglers were all quiet, and yes, the Brown Trout anglers were all quiet. But, like last night, watch this space, and in this 2026 season there has been plenty of watch this space. Now we go straight to the Currane anglers’ weather chart: variable wind, Gentle to Moderate SW, veering WSW, W, and WNW, followed by light misty rain. Eventually the sun did break through at times. Yesterday’s weather: rainfall 0.0mm, maximum air temperature 17.9°C, amount of sunshine 1 hour.

15/8/2026. Just for the record, I had no reports of any C&R from my Noble Gentlemen yesterday. And before anyone says “same old story,” let’s rewind to the 13th. I reported that there were no rod‑benders, but one Currane angler was quick to put me right, and I quote, Not all departments, Vincent! We had a couple of hours in the afternoon until we were caught in the rain and had to relocate to Dooley’s. The top‑water trout fishing on Currane is excellent and always productive with good quality fish on every outing (so far). Here’s one I caught earlier!”

That certainly reeled me in and proves the Currane waters still have a few tricks up their sleeve.

Haulie RIP

 14/8/2026, There will be no fishing reports from Lough Currane today.

It is with great sadness that I record the passing of renowned farmer, businessman, and dear friend Mr. Haulie O’Shea, RIP. I have many fond memories from Haulie’s days running the Bayview. There was always a mighty atmosphere, especially when Haulie himself was behind the bar. I’d walk in the door and the first thing he’d ask was, “Any Salmon caught today?” And if there were photos, he’d insist they went straight up on the wall, and up they went.

Haulie was a great character, a pure gentleman, and a man who would never let anyone down. His loss will be felt deeply across our community. On behalf of all Currane anglers and the good people of Bunadreen North, Mastergeehy, Dromid, Waterville, Caherdaniel, and all of Kerry, we extend our Sincere Sympathies to his wife Ann, daughters Maire and Kate, son Micheal, daughter‑in‑law Róisín, sons‑in‑law Ciaran and Shane, grandchildren Lily, Rosie, Michael, Séaghdha, and Oisin, sister Peggy, brother John, sister‑in‑law Anne, brothers‑in‑law Jimmy, Mike, Joe, and Peter, along with his relatives, neighbours, and many dear friends.

 13/8/2026. The Currane anglers were all quiet in all departments on this very humid day, with the air sitting between 95% and 98% humidity. Conditions began under heavy cloud, followed by light misty rain showers, before the sun finally broke through in the afternoon. 12/8/2026. There were five Currane boats out manipulating their skills on this Solar Eclipse Day, and by all accounts the anglers didn’t catch nor even glimpse the eclipse of a Salmon or a Sea Trout. Low lake or not, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if a rogue fish did show itself; yes, it’s hardly likely, but with a good flood on the horizon you never know your luck. 11/8/2026. The Currane anglers were as quiet as church mice in all departments today, not a whisper of action to report. So, straight to the Currane weather chart we go.
The wind began SSE before veering South, accompanied by the odd light shower, more of a spit than anything substantial. As for the sun, there wasn’t a sign of it, though sun or no sun, the humidity made its presence well known, Yesterday’s weather, Rainfall, 0.0 mm, Maximum air temperature: 20.2°C, Sunshine: 13 hours and 13 minutes

10/8/2026. Another bright and sunny day for the Currane anglers. Two boats ventured out, but there were no reports of C&R action. Considering the low water levels, what do you expect? To be honest, an evening session—or a very early morning one would be my advice. Overcast throughout the day, accompanied by the odd misty drizzle so light it might not even have been registered. 6/8/2026. I don’t know how many Currane boats ventured out today, but you can be sure there weren’t many, if any considering the low water levels. 3/8/2026. The Currane anglers were all quiet this Monday Bank Holiday, and the photos were taken down by the Bog tells the story that the lake is very low, and the rods stayed holstered. 2/8/2026. No reports from the lake today, and to be fair, it’s hardly surprising given how low the water is after this long dry spell. Rain came in heavy bursts at times, though mostly light overall, and by the afternoon the sun finally broke through.
