 28/8/2026. Back to the same old story on Lough Currane: just two boats out and not a whisper of a report. We need rain badly. And while Currane stayed parched, Killarney was hit with a proper deluge yesterday with 57mm in roughly four hours, leaving parts of the town flooded. Yet a mere 63.4 km away, Valentia Observatory recorded just 3.2mm for the same period. Talk about contrasts. Staying with the weather theme, a Currane angler sent in a photo of a field that looks more like pure sand than pasture, cattle scraping at what little is left, and farmers already dipping into their winter silage. No silage, no beef; no water, little chance of a Salmon — simple facts, harsh reality.
