As evidenced by the accompanying video, the veracity of this impressive feat is undeniable. Additionally, it is worth noting that Dan had another catch and release in recent days. Congratulations to Dan on his exceptional performance. However, for the other anglers at Currane, the day remained uneventful.

19/4/2025

April 19, 2025. We extend our greetings for a pleasant Easter to everyone. Now proceeding with the weather update: The recorded rainfall yesterday amounted to 29.9 mm. Unfortunately, most of this precipitation was absorbed by the land, as indicated by a local Currane angler who reported the absence of flooding. Consequently, the anglers at Currane exhibited low enthusiasm today, correlating with the reduced water levels. It is evident that their fishing lines were inactive. The weather was windy with a fresh Northeast direction and mostly overcast throughout the day. The recorded rainfall amount is previously stated, with a maximum air temperature of 10.8°C and no sunshine.

On 18th April 2025. The predicted yellow rain warning did not lead to any instances of flooding. The weather report by VCNN was therefore inaccurate. Today, on Good Friday, we embarked on a voyage across the waters of Lough Currane. Regrettably, the anglers experienced little success; while their fishing lines remained inactive, their conversations were lively and engaging.  The forecast for today includes a moderate to fresh Northeast wind, with gusts reaching up to 56 km/h and average speeds of 35 km/h. Intermittent light rain throughout the day. Yesterday's weather recorded 3.6mm of rainfall, a maximum temperature of 13.2°C, and 3 hours and 6 minutes of sunshine.

On April 16, 2025. The water levels in Currane are significantly low. Consequently, today's update remains unchanged. Despite ongoing efforts to monitor the situation, there have been no significant developments. However, there is potential for improvement as a yellow rain warning has been issued for Kerry, effective from 11 PM tomorrow until 12 PM on Friday, according to the Currane weather chart by Met.ie. As for today’s weather, there was variable light wind from the NNE that veered to N, NNW, NW, and back to NNW. Yesterday recorded a trace amount of rainfall, with a maximum air temperature of 11.6°C and 12 hours of sunshine.  Just for the record the amount of rainfall for Lough Currane is 31.3 mm, some light at the end of the tunnel, I think we will be depending on the mountainous rainfall. www.met.ie/weather-forecast/lough-currane-kerry#forecasts

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Mr. Paddy Cotter. On behalf of the Currane anglers and all the residents of Waterville and Kerry, we extend our Sincere Condolences to Paddy’s family, especially his children, Martha and Robert, and the entire family.

Paddy moved to Waterville in the mid-1960s and worked at the Butler Arms Hotel as a bartender, where he demonstrated exceptional skills and professionalism. Later, he continued his career at the Waterville Lake Hotel, where his knowledge and expertise extended beyond serving pints. He confidently prepared complex drinks, impressing even international patrons. An example of his craftsmanship occurred when an American guest requested an exotic drink, which Paddy meticulously prepared with various fruits and sugars over 15 minutes. The guest praised Paddy for being among the best bartenders he had encountered worldwide. Just for the record I was there, Rest in peace, Paddy.
