30/9/10 Well you don’t have be a rocket scientist to know that today was the last day of the 2010 Salmon and Sea Trout season, and the traditional Bacon and Cabbage end of season party in the famous Lobster Bar, but first here are the Salmon and Sea Trout results, on the famous Butler Pool and of www.watervillegolflinks.ie there were 2 Salmon caught, now we head down stream to Lough Currane, In the sea trout department, Mr. Barry Hegarty and Mr. Mike Jones, caught 6 Sea trout up to 1,5lbs and 3 Broun up to 1lbs, Mr, Drew Brown, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly, caught 6 Sea trout up to 2lbs, Mr. Rob Elson of the UK, caught 7 Sea Trout from Junior class up to 1.5lbs, Mr. Christopher O’Sullivan of the UK caught 3 Sea Trout with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com Mr. Mick Martin fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy, caught 14 Sea Trout, from Junior class up to 3lbs, Mr. Dave Ecclestone of the UK and Mr. John Young of Waterville, fishing with their Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan and of www.vincentsfishing.com caught 15 Sea Trout from Junior class up to 1.5lbs and Dave was telling me that they moved a good may more. Now to the poaching department our manger Mr. Trevor Stafford of www.loughcurrane.com reports on other catches from Lough Currane, Mr. Paul Hyland caught 8 sea Trout ranging from Junior Class up to 2 to 3lbs, Mr. McCarthy, caught 5 Sea Trout, and last but least, Reverend Humphrey’s, caught 19 Sea Trout over the past few days. Now to the famous Lobster Bar, there was a good party had by all, and on behalf of all we Anglers and none anglers alike, I would like to Thank the Landlord Mr. Dennis O’Carroll and his good wife Sheila, of the Lobster Bar and their Staff for a great evening, Now to the winners of the cups, the Cup for the first salmon of the 2010 Season went to Mr. Will Hamill of Dublin, the cup for the first Salmon caught on the fly went to Mr. Tommy Duggan of Kilkenny, the cup for the biggest Salmon of 17lbs7oz went to Master George Commins of Australia and his Gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy, who excepted the cup on his behalf, the cup for the Biggest Sea Trout went to Mr. Liam Ellis of Cork, with a record Sea Trout of 12 lbs 13.57oz and those are your facts on the No Spin No Fly’s just facts Zone, I hope you enjoyed reading the Salmon and Sea Trout notes as much as I did writing them and I look forward to 2011 see you t

Sea Trout Update.

Mr. Rob Elson of the UK fishing with his Gillie Mr. Terence Wharton Snr, caught 8 Sea Tout up to 3.5 and in the words of Rob all were returned.



Mr. Crohan O’Shea caught his first ever Salmon on the fly, so congratulations to Crohan, and as always Mr. Crohan O’Shea of Dublin and Mr. Kevin O’Sullivan of the UK were with their gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, now we go upstream to Lough Currane, in the Sea Trout department, Mr. Chris O’Sullivan of the UK, caught 2 Sea Trout, with his gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, Guests fishing with their gillie Mr. Bob Priestly caught 3 Sea Trout up to 3.5lbs.

Straight to Sea Trout department. Tim and Jeremy O’Connor, caught 3 Juniors, staying in the Junior class, Mr. Terence Wharton Jnr, also caught 3 Juniors. Mr. Bob Priestly and his Guests caught 3 sea Trout up to 3.5lbs. Now to the poaching department of http://www.loughcurrane.com/ our manger Mr. Trevor Stafford reports on the evening shift, on Lough Currane, Mr Colin Bateman, caught a fine Sea Trout of 2.5lbs, now Trevor and his notes, takes you to Lough Cloonaghlin, where Mr. Paul and Kieran Hyland, caught 2 Sea Trout up to 1.5lbs and added 12 Brown Trout to their basket. Now we go down Stream to the famous Butler Pool and of http://www.watervillegolflinks.ie/ Waterville House Manger Mr. Alan McGuirk, reported to me that there were 21 salmon caught last week.

22/9/10 Cork Angler, Mr. Nial Sullivan caught 5 sea on the fly



Cork Anglers, Mr. John Purcell and Tim O’Connor, caught 3 Sea Trout from Junior class up to 2.5lbs, UK Angler, Mr. Rob Elson, caught 5 Sea trout up to 3.5lbs, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Bob priestly, Benard angling party, fishing out of http://www.butlerarms.com/ caught 2 Juniors, with their Gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy, and just for the record other anglers did see a few rod benders in the Junior department, Dutch Angler Mr. William Timmerman caught 3 Sea trout with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea. Mr. Colum and Rory Berkeley caught 3 Juniors on the drift, with their gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea. Now to the poaching department of http://www.loughcurrane.com/ Reverend Humphrey’s, caught 5 Sea Trout, up to 1.5lbs, Mr. Ken Towner of the UK caught 1 Sea Trout to his rod, Mr. John Holestead and Mr. Ken Partington caught 14 Sea trout to their boat and their fly of the day was a Soldier palmer, and fished on the slow side. Now we go up stream to the upper lakes and Lough Cloonaghlin where, Mr. John Curnew and Mr. Mickey Foran, caught 7 sea Trout up to 2lbs and their Flies of the day were a Dunkeld and a Peter Ross, now our Manger Mr. Trevor Stafford Esq. takes us to Lough Derriana, where Mr. Reina Lachenmaire of Leitrim, caught 2 Sea Trout and 15 Brown trout. Mr. Sylvester Donnelly, reported to me that his clients, Mr. Bill and Nigel Piercy and Mr. Joe Loughim and Mr. Jim Williams, fishing in 2 boats for the past 7 days, caught and 6o Trout, an average of 2 trout per rod per day, and their best was 3.lbs 12ozs and out of that fine catch they only kept 6 in total. Now today’s weather, overcast and cold, max air temperature 14.9c.

In the Salmon department Mr. Rory Berkeley fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea, caught a 5lbs Grilse on the Trout Fly, now we down stream to the Butler Pool, UK Angler Mr. James McSweeny fishing with his gillie Mr. Michael o’Sullivan, Caught 2 Grilse and just for the record one was returned.

Now we head upstream to Lough Currane and the Sea trout department, Mr. Tim Benard and party, fishing out of http://www.butlerarms.com/ caught 5 Sea Trout with there Gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy, Mr. Colum Berkely caught 3 Juniors on the fly with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea, UK Angler Mr. John Bojtor, caught 6 Sea Trout with his Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, staying with the Sea Trout, UK angler Mr. Dave Ecclestone caught 2 Juniors, with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan. There was some reasonable action all over the Waterville fishery so lets head down stream to the Famous Butler, Mr. Simon and Sue Chislet of the UK caught a 7lbs and 8lbs Salmon, with their Gillie MR. Now we head up stream to Lough Currane, UK Angler Mr. Robert Elson, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Terence Wharton Snr, caught 3 Sea trout and finished the day off with a fine Salmon, in the Sea trout Department, Mr. Peter Liddel and Mr. Alex Muir, caught 6 Juniors on the fly, with their Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea. Now to the Higher Lakes, and poaching department, our manger Mr. Trevor Stafford of http://www.loughcurrane.com/ reports that on Lough Namona, Mr. Rod Robinson, caught 3 Sea Trout, from 1.5lbs up to 2,75lbs, now we head further up stream to Lough Derriana, Mr. Bob Priestly reported to me that he and his client, American Angler Mr. Dona McCarthy, caught 1 Sea Trout in the 2lbs class and finished his day off with a Brown Trout. Now we head across the valley and to the River Inny and the C&R department, UK Angler Mr. John Bojter caught a fine Salmon with his Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, Wind N fresh to strong with reasonable cloud cover, with heavy showers at times.

He and Cork Angler, Mr. Mark Doorman caught a total of 12 Juniors, plus http://www.loughcurrane.com/ reports that Cork Angler, Mr. Niall Buyne caught 4 Sea trout and lost a cracker of a fish off Church Island.




Dutch Angler Mr. William Timmermans was in good form again today with 1 Grilse and one Sea Trout, caught on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, in the Sea trout department, American, Angler Mr. Dona McCarthy, caught 3 Juniors with his Gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy. Now we go down stream to the Butler Pool, a Guest fishing with Mr. Michael O’Sullivan caught 1 Grilse. Wind SSW fresh to strong and overcast with heavy rain this evening.

I start downstream on the famous Butler Pool and of http://www.watervillegolflinks.ie/ Kildare Angler, Mr. Brian Maybery, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Michael O’Sullivan, caught 2 salmon both in the 7 and 6lbs class, then they headed upstream to Lough Currane and caught 5 Sea Trout up to 1.5lbs, staying with the Sea Trout and fly department, Mr. Andrew Price of the UK caught 6 Sea Trout from Junior Class up to 2.5lbs, fishing with his gillie Mr. Bob Priestly, Mr. Alex Muir, of the UK fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, caught 1 Sea Trout in the 2lbs class on the fly, Now to Sylvester Donnelly’s Hired out boat department, Mr. Jim Woodhead and Mr. Ian Scolfield caught 4 Sea Trout, also in good form were, Nigel and Bill Percy, with a couple of Sea Trout, up to 2.5lbs and just for the record both hired out boats were fishing out of the Table Rock, now we cut across the Lake to the north side and the hired out boat department of Waterville Boats, Mr. Ben O’ Connor and Mr. Mr. Paul O’Sullivan, caught 4 juniors, also in good form were the Hunt Brothers, with 8 sea trout, in the last 3 days. And last but not least there were a few Juniors caught by Mr Mark O’Malley of the UK, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan/ Wind SW light to fresh and over cast, with the odd light shower, amount of rainfall 3.6mm, max air temperature 17.8c. I end today's notes on the famous Butler Pool and of http://www.watervillegolflinks.ie/ Waterville House Manger Alan McGuirk, reported to that there were 25 Salmon caught in the past week, of which the best weighed in at 8.5lbs.

Mr. Peter Liddel and Alex Muir, from Newcastle England, caught 5 Sea Trout up to 3lbs on the fly, fishing with their Gillie Mr. Neil O’ Shea, and staying with Neil, in his hired out boat department, Mr. Ger McCarthy and his good friend, caught 4 Sea Trout and finished the day off with a fine Salmon, now to the hired out boat department of Mr . Frank Donnelly, Frank, reported to me that their was a fine Stag party last night and today my noble Stag Anglers headed out on to Lough Currane and here are today’s Stag fishing results, Mr. David Ryan and party from Co Mayo, caught 34 Sea Trout between their two boats, all I can say is some Stag party some great Sea Trout fishing. Staying with the Sea Trout department, Mr. Andrew Price of UK caught 3 Juniors with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly, Mr. Mark O’Malley of the UK, caught 3 Juniors, with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O'Sullivan and last but not least, Guests Fishing with their Gillie Mr. Michael O’Sullivan, caught 4 juniors

Straight to the Sea Trout department, Kiki and Will Van Ufford of the UK fishing with their Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, were in good form again with 5 Sea Trout up to 2.75lbs to their rods, also in good form again today, was Mr. Mark O’Malley of the UK, fishing out of www.butlerarms.com and fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan, caught 4 Juniors to his rod. Now to the catch of the day and that goes to Mr. John Hallstead of Dingle and his good friend Mr. Ken Partington, they caught 20 Sea Trout for the day, 6 were caught early this morning, I was talking to John and Ken, as they were getting ready for their afternoon and evening shift and just for the record Mr. Frank Donnelly, reported to me john’s and Ken’s, full catch of the day. Now to the poaching department, I was reading on www.loughcurrane.com our manger Mr. Trevor Stafford, reports that Cork Angler, Mr. Anthony O’Sullivan, caught 10 Sea Trout and as many rod benders, Now our Manger, takes you to the upper Lakes and Lough Cloonaghlin, where Mr. Tom Moore and his good friend caught 3 Sea Trout up to 2lbs.

Mr. Mark O’Malley of the UK, fishing out of www.butlerarms.com caught 6 Sea Trout , from Junior class up to 4lbs, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan.




Kiki and Will Van Ufford of the UK had a great day on Lough Currane, with 3 Sea Trout and A fine Grilse, and the Grilse was real special because it was Kiki’s first ever Salmon, so congratulations to Kiki and may it be the first of many, and just for the record they were fishing with their Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, Now to the Sea Trout department Susan Timmis, caught 2 Juniors, fishing with here Gillie, Mr. Tom O’Shea.

Mr. John Young and was in good form on the Butler Pool with 2 Grilse and one was put back, now to Lough Currane, Cork Angler, Mr. Mark Doorman, caught 6 Sea Trout, with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly, ranging from Junior Class up to 3.5lbs and all caught on the fly. Wind NW fresh to strong with showers throughout the day.

Now to the River Inny and the C&R department, Mr. Kevin Brain of the Waterville Angling centre, caught a Grilse and 2 Sea Trout. Wind WNW fresh to strong with reasonable cloud cover.

On the Butler Pool, local Angler, Mr. John Young caught a fine grilse, staying with the Pool. A guest caught a Grilse with his Gillie Mr. Michael O’Sullivan, now we head upstream to Lough Currane and the One Each department, Mr. Mark O Malley fishing out of http://www.butlerarms.com/ and his gillie Mr. Vincent O'Sullivan, Caught 2 salmon on the fly, their fish weighed in at 5lbs and 6lbs, now to the Sea trout department, Janet Van Hoffen caught 1 sea Trout, fishing with Mr. Neil O’Shea, and in the hired out boat department, Mr. John Keeshan of Tipperary and Dutch Angler, Mr. Gillissen caught a couple of Sea Trout. In the C&R Department, Swiss Angler, Mr. Walter Ruche caught a Salmon on the Inny as did his Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly. Now to the higher Lakes and the poaching department, I was reading on http://www.loughcurrane.com/ on Lough Derriana, Mr. Paul Hyland caught 1 Brown Trout.


Mr. Pete Maxi and Mr. Simon Forbs of the UK, had a great fishing trip to Waterville last week, fishing with their Gillie Mr. Sylvester Donnelly, going by the email that I received from Pete, and here the facts, they caught plenty of Juniors, they had 2 Sea Trout in the 2lbs class 1 Sea trout in the 2.5lbs Class and one in the 1.5 class and their fish of the week was a fine Sea Trout of 4lbs and their best day was their last day with 14 fish taken and returned and Pete told me that He, and Simon, caught about 23 fish each, plus Pete was unlucky because he got into a fine Salmon and after about 15 Minutes the fly came flying out, and just for the record their fly of the week was a Red A Green Peter, and in the words of their gillie Mr. Sylvester Donnelly I lost count by the end of the week, and just for the record their Gillie Mr. Sylvester Donnelly got praised to the hilt.

Mr. Liam Ellis of Cork was in good form in the Dapping department with 4 juniors and 3 Brown Trout, Mr. John Keeshan from Tipperary and Dutch Angler, Mr. Gillissen, fishing with their Gillie Mr.Sylvester Donnelly caught 4 Sea trout of which the best was 2.¾ lbs, staying with the Sea Trout, Janet Van Hoffen of the UK fishing with Mr Neil O’Shea, caught a 2.5lbs Sea Trout, also in good form, was Mr. James Doherty of Adare Co Limerick, with 5 Sea Trout up tp 1,5lbs all caught on the troll fishing with his gillie, Mr. Kevin Brain of the Waterville Angling centre. Now to the Salmon department Mr. Walter Ruche of Switzerland, caught two salmon and lost 3 more with his Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly, now we head down stream to the Famous Butler Pool and of http://www.watervillegolflinks.ie/ a guest caught 2 salmon with his gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy. Higher Lakes Update

There were 2 Salmon caught by a Cork Angler.

Lough Currane was on the wild side with a strong Westerly blowing down the Lake, going by what Local Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly, was telling me, by 2pm most boats headed for the high stool, high stool or not, at least Bob caught 3 Juniors, and for the rest of we anglers no comment.

River Inny C&R update,
Mr. Kevin Brain of the Waterville Angling Center, caught 2 Grilse.






Now to the C&R departments,on the Butler Pool, local angler Mr. John Young, caught 2 Grilse, ranging from 4lbs up to 5lbs, now to the River Inny, Mr. John Burton, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea, caught 2 grilse, ranging from 3lbs up to 7 lbs. Now to Lough Currane and the hired out boat department, Belgium angers Mr. Mark Luyten and Mr. D. Vandessel and party had a good week on the Waterville fishery, they started up stream on the Butler Pool and caught a fine Grilse of 4.5lbs plus a good rod bender, they also fished Lough Namona and caught Sea Trout ranging from 2.5lbs up to 4lbs, and added a few Juniors to there basket, they also fished Lough Cloonaghlin caught a 1 Junior and a good few Brown Trout and finished their trip on Lough Currane today and caught 6 juniors, and a fine Brown trout in the 2.¾ lbs and my noble Belgium Anglers were guests of Mr Michael O’Sullivan.

I start down stream on the famous Butler Pool and of http://www.watervillegolflinks.ie/ Mr. Dona McCarthy from the USA caught 2 Salmon with his Gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy, and just for the record 1 Salmon was put back, now we head upstream to Lough Currane, and that renowned angler, yes you have it Mr. John Baller of the UK, caught a fine 5lbs Salmon on the troll, with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, in the Sea trout department, Mr. David Burton caught 5 Juniors on the fly, with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea, local Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly caught 2 Juniors on the drift, and other anglers did see a bit of action, but no real rod benders and those are your fishing results on Lough Currane. Wind SW light to fresh and overcast with heavy rain at times this afternoon, now upsteam to Lough NaMona, Mr. Pat Kieranan and Mr. Colm Murphy, caught a fine Sea Trout of 4.5lbs and 1 Junior and on
Lough Derriana, a top Swiss fishing magazine, angling party fishing with their Gillie Mr. Roger Baker, caught 1 Sea Trout. just for the record I got the NaMona and Lough Derriana facts from our Manger, Mr. Trevor Stafford of http://www.loughcurrane.com/ Now to the lobster Bar and tonight there was a remembrance Party in honour of Mr Robert Wasmuth of the UK and Waterville, who sadly died on the 10/8/10 and there was a good party had by all and I can tell you Robert would have been real proud because his good wife and all his Family and friends were there, as you can see in the picture, and I will finish by saying this, Robert you may have departed, but your not forgotten.

Mr. Michael Jones and Mr. Barry Hegarty of Cork caught 3 Juniors. Mr. Richard Ainscough, caught one Junior on the Lake with his Gillie Mr. Sion Brain, but not satisfied with Lough Currane, they headed for the River Inny and caught 4 Salmon weighing in at 4lbs 6lbs 4lbs which I might add were all returned, Now back to Lough Currane, Mr. John Baller of the UK was in good form again in the C&R department with 1 Grilse, caught on the toll, with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea. In the Sea Trout department, Mr. Patrick Dwyer and Mr. Malachy, caught 4 Juniors with their gillie Mr. Bob Priestly. Now we head down stream to the Butler Pool, A guest fishing out of http://www.butlerarms.com/ caught a Grilse, with his gillie Mr. Terence Wharton Snr.

Sea Trout update.
Mr. Frank Donnelly, reported to that Mr. Brian Barry and Mr. Alan Houlihan, caught 16 Sea Trout, in one of his hired out boats.





Again there was some fine action on the Waterville Fishery, and I will leave the best to last. I will start down stream, on the Famous Butler Pool and of http://www.watervillegolflinks.ie/ , Mr. Mark Luyton of Belgium caught a fine salmon with his gillie Mr. Michael O’Sullivan, and in the afternoon, Michael left the Pool and went upstream to Lough Currane, and a change of Clients, Mr. Charlie Clifton and his good friend Steve caught 8 Juniors with their Gillie Mr. Michael O’Sullivan, and in hired out boat department, an Angler caught 4 sea trout, staying in the Sea Trout department Mr. Patrick Dwyer and Mr. Malachy Travers, fishing out of the Waterville Lodge hotel, caught 4 Sea trout with their gillie Mr. Bob priestly, Now to the Salmon department, Mr. Ken Towner of the UK and Waterville, caught a fine salmon and a Sea trout with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan, now for the Catch & Release of the day, and that goes to Mr. John Baller of the UK, fishing out of http://www.butlerarms.com/ who caught four salmon on the troll, and weighing in at 3.5lbs, 5lbs, 6lbs, 7lbs and as always Mr. John Baller was with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, now to the poaching department I was reading of http://www.loughcurrane.com/ our Manger Mr. Trevor Stafford is reporting on the higher Lakes, on Lough Cloonaghlin, Mr. John Murphy caught 1 Sea Trout, plus there was some great action on the River Inny yesterday afternoon, after the flood.

There was some great action on Lough Currane today, In the Brown Trout and Sea Trout department, Mr Anthony O’Sullivan of Caherciveen, caught a fine Brown trout of 1.5lbs and finished the day off with a Sea Trout in the 1lbs class, now to the Salmon department, a Guest fishing with Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, caught a fine Salmon and 2 Sea Trout, staying in the Salmon department Mr. John Baller of the UK and fishing out of http://www.butlerarms.com/ caught a 5lbs Grilse on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, now to the fly department Mr. David Burton caught a fine Grilse on the fly with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea.

Brown Trout and Sea Trout update.

Now to the Poaching department, our Manger Mr. Trevor Stafford, of http://www.loughcurrane.com/ is reporting some catches on the higher Lakes so lets head up stream to Lough Derriana, Mr. Stephen Galvin caught 1 Brown Trout and 1 Sea trout and that was his ration because of the storm force winds, now we head for Lough Cloonaghlin, Mr. Colin Meehan and Mr. Chris Fogarty, caught 3 fine Sea trout up to 2.5lbs. Amount of rainfall 26.0mm, max air temperature 18.1c




Lough Currane was on the wild side, with a strong SW wind blowing down the lake, wild or not, Mr. Arthur Quinlan caught one Sea trout, with his Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, AS did Mr. Mr. Frank Donnelly, with his Client. By 2pm most boats were blown off the lake.

Brown trout and Sea trout update.

Mr. Jim Restrick caught 2 Sea Trout, one in the 3lbs class and finished the day off with a fine Sea Trout in the 4lbs class



Now to the poaching department, our manger, Mr. Trevor Stafford of http://www.loughcurrane.com/ is reporting that on Lough Cloonaghlin, Mr. John Walsh and Family, caught a good few Brown Trout, and his Son Owen caught a fine Sea Trout in the 1lbs class, and staying with the upper lakes on Lough Derriana, Dr. Tim Gleason, caught 8 Brown trout and finished the off the day with a Sea trout.



Mr. Mark Doorman fishing with his gillie Mr. Bob Priestly, caught 5 Sea Trout up to 1.5lbs, in the hired out boat department, an angler caught 3 Sea Trout up to 2.¾ lbs and staying with the hired out boat department, another angler had a good catch of 7 juniors. Dutch Angler Mr. Tim Valderrlann, caught 3 Juniors, with his Gillie Mr. Terence Wharton Snr, now we head up for the Higher Lakes and Lough Derriana, Mr. Mike O’Dwyer reported to me that, Mr. Peter Cox caught 2 Sea Trout, then Peter and his fishing Colleagues headed back down stream to Lough Currane and it wasn’t long before they had a few rod benders, and the facts are as follows’ Mr. Peter Cox 2 Sea Trout, Mr. Derek Hallam 2 Sea Trout and last but not least Mr. Garry Tompson 3 Sea Trout

Sea Trout update.
In the hired out boat department, an angler caught 16 juniors.



Again the Waterville fishery produced some fine action, I will start on the famous Butler Pool and of http://www.watervillegolflinks.ie/ where Mr. Ivor O’Connor caught a fine 7lbs Salmon on a Red Francis, and he was also telling me that he and his Gillie Mr. Sion Brian, also lost 1, now we head upstream to Lough Currane Mr. Dan Sugrue of Waterville caught 4 juniors with his Gillie Mr. Brod O’Sullivan, staying in the Sea trout department, local Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly caught 4 Juniors and finished the day off with a Brown Trout, also in good form with his fly rod, was Dutch Angler Mr. Tim Valderrlann with 11 Sea Trout up to 3lbs and Tim was ably assisted by his Gillie’s Mr. Terence Wharton Snr and Mr Terence Wharton Jnr and I can tell you that is some combination and that is a fact, Dr. Tim Gleason caught 4 Sea trout, and his Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer was telling me that they also lost a Salmon, and four Sea trout, Mr. Pete Maxey and Mr. simon Forbs, of the UK caught 6 Sea Trout with his gillie Mr. Sylvester Donnelly of Lake Road Waterville.

There was some fine action on the Waterville Fishery today, I will start on the famous Butler Pool and of http://www.watervillegolflinks.ie/ Mr. Michael Wright of the UK caught 2 Salmon on the fly, ranging from 7lbs up to 9lbs, and after conquering the Butler Pool, Michael and his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, went upstream to Lough Currane and put their rods out, and it wasn’t long before they caught a fine 5lbs Grilse on the troll, and just for the record Mr Michael Wright only kept one Salmon, staying with my Noble Salmon, Mr. Dan Sugrue of Waterville and Tralee, caught a 6lbs Grilse and Sea Trout on the fly, with his Gillie Mr. Brod O’Sullivan. Very few boats out, and what boats were out failed miserably in their duties, but I can you, Dutch Angler, Mr. Tim Valderlaan would beg to differ and for good reason, he caught 13 Sea Juniors on the fly, Tim was with his Gillie Mr. Terence Wharton, now we head for the hired out department, Mr. Bill Bullick and Mr. Malcolm Davidson caught a fine grilse and finished the day off with 4 Sea trout, staying in the hired out Boat department, Mr. John Cronin has had 10 Sea Trout in the last 3 days. Now we head down stream to the famous Butler Pool and http://www.watervillegolflinks.ie/ where Local Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, caught a fine 7lbs Salmon on a stoats tail, staying with the Butler Pool and Waterville House, Manger Mr. Alan McGuirk reported to me that there was a total of 27 salmon caught on the pool in the past week.

Now to days facts. in the Salmon and Sea trout department Dutch angler, Tim, caught a fine 6lbs Grilse and 4 Sea Trout on the fly, Tim was fishing with his Gillie Mr. Terence Wharton Snr, now we go to the hired out boat department, Mr. Tom O’Shea, reported that Mr. Tom Barry, caught a 1.5 Sea Trout on the fly, and for the rest of we anglers no comment, now for some catches in the past week, Mr. Michael O’Sullivan, reported to me that, Mr Don Malcolmson and party from Northern Ireland caught 30 Sea Trout, the best of which was 3lbs, and just for the record that

Now to the poaching department, I was reading on http://www.loughcurrane.com/ that our manger Mr. Trevor Stafford is reporting some catches on the higher lakes, I will start with Lough Na Mona, Mr. Kevin O’Sullivan and Mr. Tadgh O’Sullivan caught 2 Sea Trout in the 1.5lbs class, now we go further upstream to Lough Cloonaghlin, on the evening shift, Mr. John Holestead caught 2 Sea Trout.


I start today’s facts, on the famous Butler Pool and of http://www.watervillegolflinks.ie/ Mr. Tommy Duggan of Kilkenny, gave the Lough Currane Sea Trout a rest today, and went down stream, and hammered the Butler Pool and caught himself 2 fine salmon, weighing in at 5 and 7lbs, Tommy was with his Gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy, staying with the Pool, Waterville House, manger Mr. Alan McGuirk, reported to me that a total of 11 Salmon have bean caught this week. Now we head up stream to Lough Currane and the Sea Trout department, Mr. Niall Cahill, caught 3 Sea Trout on the fly with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea, staying with the Sea Trout, Mr Arnold Slater, caught 2 Sea Trout on the fly, with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, and last but not least, a guest fishing with his gillie Mr. Terence Wharton Snr, caught 4 Juniors.

Conditions were not the best, but that didn’t deter my Noble Anglers recording some fine catches, in the Sea Trout department Mr. Tommy Duggan and Mr David Mehigan fishing with their Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan, caught 8 Juniors, and David was telling that they lost a couple of sea trout in 1.5lbs class. give or take, also in good form was Mr. Arnold Slater, who caught 5 sea Trout from juniors up to 2 to 3lbs with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea, staying in the Sea Trout department Mr. Stefan Kuhan, fishing with his gillie Mr. Mike O'Dwyer, caught 3 Sea trout up to 2.5lbs, Local Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly, caught 2 Juniors, Mr. Rod Rrobenson of the UK and Waterville caught 5 Trout with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea. Hartwet caught a Grilse on the fly in the mouth of the Commeragh with his Gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy , now we head for the Sea Trout department, Mr. Tommy Duggan caught 7 juniors on the fly with his gillie, Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan, also in good form was local Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly with 2 Juniors, staying in the Sea Trout department Mr. Sebastian Jardineotway caught 2 Sea trout up to 2lbs with his Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly, now for the fish of the day and that goes to Mr Gerry O’Sullivan who caught a fine 7lbs15ozs Specimen Sea Trout on the fly.

Straight to the Sea Trout department and Lough Currane, Local Gillie, Mr. Bob Priestly, was telling me that he caught 2 Juniors on the dry fly in Copal, on the south side, now we go down stream to the Butler Pool where there was some fine action, A guest caught a 4lbs Grilse, with his Gillie, Mr. Michael O’Sullivan, and catch of the day with 3 Grilse, weighing in at 5lbs 4.lbs 3.5lbs, goes to that renowned Angler Dr. Tim Gleason, fishing with his gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, and if you don’t take my word for it, look up April 4th you will see my Noble Doctor holding a fine specimen Sea trout.

Lough Currane was on the quiet side, but at least one angler did see a bit of action, Mr. Mike Power, caught 1 Junior with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea, there was a NE wind blowing down the lake, plus there was heavy cold showers at times, which didn’t make for good fishing, now we head upstream to the Higher lakes, on Lough Derriana, German Anglers fishing with their Gillie, Mr Frank Donnelly, caught 4 Sea Trout.

The winner of the Waterville Fisheries Development Group, Catch and Release competition, was Mr. John Buckley of Killarney, who caught 10 fish worth 3250 points and captured 1st prize of a 19 foot Lake Boat, Mr. Daniel Dinger Murphy came second with 2750 points and won a Electric outboard motor, the longest fish over the two day competition was 55cm was caught by Mr. Kevin O’Sullivan, now to the top ten prize winners in full. Mr. John Buckley 10 fish for 3250 points, Mr. Daniel Dinger Murphy, 8 fish for 2750 points, Mr. Rod Robinson, 7 fish for 2220 points, Mr. John Murphy, 6 fish for 1890 points, Mr. Neil O’Shea, 5 fish for 1570 points, Mr. Kevin O’Sullivan 4 fish for 1450 points, Mr. Bill O’Dea, 4 fish for 1310 points, Mr. Julian Smith 4 fish for 1290 points, Mr. John Curnew, 4 fish for 1280 points, Mr. Jim Sayers, 4 fish for 1270 points. Now to other anglers on Lough Currane, there was just one report of a fine Grilse caught by Mr. Keenan fishing with his gillie Mr. Bob Priestly and in the none competition Sea Trout department, cork angler. Mr. John Quilligan fishing with his clients from Wales, caught 4 Sea Trout up to 2lbs, now we head for the higher lakes and Lough Namona, Local angler Mr. John Young caught 2 Sea Trout both in the 2lbs class, on Lough Derriana, Dr. Tim Gleason, caught 2 fine Sea Trout both in the 2 to 3lbs class.

Update

Now straight to the poaching department, I was reading on http://www.loughcurrane.com/ that Cork Angler Ger McCarthy and his good friend caught 7 Sea Trout, up to 2lbs, Mr. Dona Monaghan, of Newbridge, caught 2 Sea trout, both fish were in the 2lbs class and added a few smaller Trout to his basket, Mr. Anthony Breen of Co Wexford caught 3 Sea Trout, ranging from 1.5lbs up to 2.5lbs, Mr. Colin Frazer, fishing in a hired out boat, caught 3 Sea Trout.
In the Salmon department Waterville’s Local Postman, Mr. Joe Murphy, caught a fine 5lbs Grilse on the troll. Wind NW light to calm and overcast with the odd light shower,


Mr. Mick O’Neill, caught one Sea trout on the fly with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea, and for the rest of we so called anglers no comment, but just for the record a few anglers manipulating on Lough Currane and the Waterville Fishery, haven’t reported their catches as of yet. Straight to the poaching department, I see on http://www.loughcurrane.com/ that on the higher Lakes, there was some action, and the facts are as follows, Mr. Vincent Donnelly, caught a few Juniors and added 2 Brown Trout in the 1.5lbs class, now we head down steam to Lough Na Mona, Mr. Chris Watson fishing with his Gillie Mr. Roger Baker, caught 2 Juniors. Now to Lough Currane, just a few Juniors caught but no real rod benders, I say no rod benders, you try and tell that to Mr. Ger McCarthy and party, fishing in a hired out boat, they caught 12 sea trout raging from Juniors up to 1.¾ lbs, now we head down stream to the Butler Pool, Cork angler, Mr. Anthony Buckley, caught a 4lbs Grilse, which gave Anthony the Grand Slam of fishing, because in the last few days , he has caught a Salmon on the Commeragh River then headed down stream, and caught a Grilse on Lough Currane, and finished his grand slam on the Butler pool.

On the early shift, Mr. Colin and PJ Lynham, caught 10 Sea Trout, ranging from Junior class up to 2lbs, with their Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, Mr. Lynham Snr, was telling me that he and his Son, have been coming to the Waterville Fishery, for a good many years, and it’s the best weeks fishing they have had, and their gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, got a very good mention, praise indeed. Now to the Salmon department, Cork Angler Mr. Anthony Buckley, caught a fine 5.4ozs Grilse on the troll, with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea, Mr. john Baller of the UK fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, caught 2 Juniors on the fly, and staying with the fly, Mr. Drew Brown fishing with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly caught 6 Juniors, Mr. Jamie Booth and his Brother, caught 2 fine Sea trout, ranging from Junior class up to 2.5lbs, Guests fishing with their Gillie Sylvester Donnelly, caught 3 Juniors on the troll, and Mr. Frank Donnelly, caught 1 junior with his Guest, there was a fine 7.5lbs specimen Sea Trout, caught on the fly by Mr. O’Sullivan of Lake road Waterville, fishing with his Brother Mr. Kevin O’Sullivan. Straight to the poaching department, I was reading on http://www.loughcurrane.com/ that our manger Mr. Trevor Stafford, reported that Rik and Crstal Van Wyngart, caught 50 Sea Trout for their 6 days fishing, of which their biggest was 5lb, and just for the record they were all put back to fight another day, and staying with the poaching department, Mr. James and Sean Linehan caught 20 Sea Trout to their boat on Derriana, now we head down stream back to Lough Currane and Mr. Ferguson and his fishing party from Inverness Scotland, caught 15 Juniors. the photo you see is of the Ferguson Fishing party.

In the C&R department, Belgium anglers fishing in a hired out boat, caught 3 Sea Trout, ranging from junior class up to 5lbs. Dr. Tim Gleason, fishing with his gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, caught 4 Sea Trout, staying with Dr. Tim Gleeson, in the afternoon fishing on his own he added 2 more Sea Trout to his basket, now to the trolling department, Mr. Mick Quilligan of Cork, fishing with his Gillie Mr. John Griffin, caught 4 Sea trout, ranging from Junior class up to 1.5lbs. Staying in the trolling department Mr. John Baller fishing with his gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, caught 2 Sea trout. Now we head for the higher Lakes, and Lough Namona, Mr. Frank Donnelly, fishing with his guest, caught 1 Junior, and Frank was telling me that his client lost a cracker of a Sea trout, in the 5 to 6lbs class give or take, but that’s fishing, but I can tell you that’s not what Frank said, so the least said the soonest mended. Wind S light and overcast with heavy rain for most of the afternoon and so heavy in fact its made another big flood.

Update
On the evening shift Mr. Stephen Galvin, caught four juniors and two fine brown Trout in the 1.5 class.


There was another small flood this morning, but this didn’t deter my noble anglers from procuring my Noble game fish. First to the trolling department, Mr. John Baller of the UK, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, caught two Grilse, John’s fish weighed in at 4lbs and 6lbs, and John finished the day off with 2 juniors, also in good for was Mr. Michael Roden, fishing with his Gillie Mr. junior Scully, Michael, caught a fine Grilse and finished the day off with 1 sea Trout. Now to the total fly only department, local Angler Mr. Tony O’Sullivan caught 2 2lbs Sea Trout in Coffees Bay, sadly Tony couldn’t make it a hat trick, but that fishing, staying with fly only, Mr. Bill Rushby fishing with his gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy caught 5 sea trout in the Junior class. In the hired out boat department an angler, caught 2 Sea Trout. Mr. Ian Campbell caught a 6lbs Grilse on the troll, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly, and in the hired out boat department, German Angler Mr. Michael Reger caught 2 grilse, plus 6 Sea trout, all caught on the troll, now for the total fly department, Mr. John Buckley of Killarney, caught a fine Grilse on the drift, in the Sea trout department, Mr. Mark Knowles caught 3 Sea Trout, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy. In the taking short department, Mr. John Murphy was telling me that he and his Guests had a good few Juniors taking short.

Update
Belgian Anglers, fishing out of the Bungalow, caught 9 Sea Trout


There was a fine 5lbs Grilse caught on the fly, on the famous Butler Pool, by the Prince, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan, Now we head upstream to Lough Currane, and the fly department, anglers fishing in a hired out boat, caught 3 Juniors. Stephen from Sheffield, caught his first Sea Trout on the fly, and caught 2 on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Michael O’Sullivan, also in good form was Mr. Ken Towner, of the UK and Waterville, caught 3 juniors on the drift, staying with the fly, with a mixture of Salmon and Sea Trout, Mr. Mark Knowles, caught 6 Sea trout and a fine 5lbs Grilse, fishing with his gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy, and last but not least, in the trolling department, Mr. R. Dee caught 2 Sea Trout in the 1.lbs class and lost two Grilse, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent Appleby. Wind SE light to fresh and overcast with light rain in the morning and reasonably heavy this evening.

12/7/10 Mr. Kevin O’Meara caught a fine 8lbs specimen Sea trout, on the troll, and staying in the trolling department, Mr. Dan Sugrue of Tralee and Waterville caught 8lbs Salmon on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Brod O’Sullivan. Now we go bach to the Sea trout department, and the hired out boat department, Anglers fishing in a hired out boat, caught 4 Sea Trout, staying with the hired out boats, Mr. Will Taylor of Dungannon, fishing in a hired out boat, caught 7 Juniors, Mr, Robert Woodside. Caught 4 Sea Trout, from Juniors up to 2.5lbs. local Gillie, Mr. Bob Priestly caught 2 Sea Trout up to 2lbs, Wind, E light to calm and overcast, with the light drizzle at times.

In the fly department, Mr. Stephen Galvan caught 2 Sea Trout in the 2lbs class, and in the afternoon Stephen caught 4 Juniors on the troll. Mr. Kevin O’Sullivan, of Lake road Waterville, caught 3 Sea Trout up to 1.5lbs,Mr. Kevin Sionet, Mr. Jerry Dwyer, caught 12 Sea Trout, ranging from Juniors up to 3lbs, Mr Nick Bell caught 6 Sea Trout, Mr. Alan Houlian and Mr. Brian Barry caught 15 Sea Trout, from Jubiors up to 3lbs, now we cut across the Lake to the North Side, Mr. Denis McArthur, caught 6 Sea trout, Mr. John Whelan, caught 5 Sea Trout from Juniors up to 5.5lbs, Mr. Will Taylor caught 3 Juniors, Mr. Breen, caught 3 Sea Trout from Juniors up to 2.5lbs, Mr. Brian Maybury, caught 6 Sea Trout ranging from Juniors up to 3.5lbs, Mr O’Connor, caught 4 Sea Trout. Now For a mixture of Salmon and Sea Trout, Mr. Kevin Crowley and Mr. Neil Spellacy caught 11 Sea Trout, and finished the day off with a Salmon, and Just for the record Their Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea, informed me that they returned all the Sea Trout, now for catch of the day with two Sea Trout caught on the troll, goes to, two young Lady’s, Miss, Georgia and Leah O’Dwyer, fishing with their Dad and well know local Gillie Mr. Mike O’Dwyer, now back to the fly department, Mr. Mark knawels and Mr. Finbar Donavaghon fishing with their Gillie Mr. Dominic Mc Gillicuddy, caught 7 Sea Trout, from Juniors up to 3lbs, Mr Chris Barret, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly, caught 6 Sea Trout on the fly, ranging from Juniors up to 2lbs, in the trolling department, Mr. Vincent Appleby, caught four Sea Trout, all in the Junior class. Now we head for the upper Lakes and Loch NA Mona, a guest fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, caught 1 sea trout. Now we head across the valley to the River Inny, Local Gillie Mr. Terence Wharton Jnr, caught 1 Salmon and just for the record there was a good spate coming down the Commeragh and there a good few Anglers manipulating early this morning and at present there is no reports of any rod benders, but you can be sure there were a few fish caught?. Wind SSE light to calm with light rain for most of the day, amount of rainfall 0.6mm, max air temperature 16.7c.
