30/7/2024. The Currane anglers had a plenty of cloud cover this day and that’s not surprising with only 1 minute of sunshine registered. on the C&R department all quiet on my WhatsApple. Wind light NNW and variable. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 0.9mm amount of sunshine 0hrs.1mins. maximum air temperature 18c. 31/7/2024. The Currane anglers had a hot and humid day to deal with today, you could say not the best of weather for my Noble Salmon and Sea Trout. Wind moderate, South veered SSW, SW. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 0.0mm, amount of sunshine 11hours.4mins, maximum air temperature 19.0c.

29/7/2024. We go back to yesterday’s Currane anglers manipulations and yes, I failed miserably in my duties because I didn’t check my emails, so let’s put the record straight. The stage is yours anonymous Currane angler. High Vince Just to let you know that 2 friends went out today. There were quite a few boats out. My friends had excellent trout fishing. 6 Sea Trout up to 2 lbs and 2 Browns and by the way, all were released but quick photos were taken. All I can say is my apologies for the delay in posting your report and thanks for your support for the Waterville Fishery. Now back to the present. Currane anglers talking fingers were all quiet today. Wind moderate SSW and veered SW and overcast throughout the day followed by misty rain at times. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 0.0mm, amount sunshine 10 hours.5mins, maximum air temperature 19.2c.

28/7/2024. No reports as of yet of any catches this day, so we head for the Currane anglers weather report, Wind gentle, South veered SSW, S, SSW, SW followed by reasonable cloud cover at times. 26/7/2024. Just a few Trout to report on the drift and a couple caught on the troll. Now to the backdate department, I was talking to the Wondering Currane angler, he reported that he caught and released a fine Grilse last week. Wind light WSW followed by reasonable cloud cover. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 0.6mm, amount sunshine 5hrs.3mins, maximum air temperature 18.0c.

Have no news on the Currane anglers today which isn’t surprising considering the low water levels and to prove my point, go to Angling Update and read the reports from around the Kingdom fisheries. 24/7/2024. There was a small flood coming down the River Inny this morning so we will take it for granted that the Currane anglers had their C&R River Inny hats on? No reports as of yet from the Currane anglers this day, you could say the reporting is getting as difficult as netting one’s fish but as the fly fisherman said to his gillie patience is a virtue and everything comes to those who wait. Wind North veered W, NW, W, WSW, followed by good cloud cover. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 1.6mm, amount of sunshine 0hrs.7mins, maximum air temperature 16.5c.

22/7/2024. No reports from the Currane anglers as of yet, so on that note we head for the Currane anglers weather department. Wind fresh SSW veered SW, W, WNW, followed by misty rain throughout the day. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 4.1mm, amount of sunshine 0hrs.1mins, maximum air temperature 16.6mm.

 21/7/24. The Waterville fishery did get a bit of rain but not a lot, in total 9.4mm, yesterday admittedly not a lot but saying that a walk up the Inny wouldn’t have done any harm. Wind fresh SW veered SSW, SW.       

20/7/24

  20/7/2024. Just for the record all my lines were all quiet but as I say that, the Currane anglers could have seen some good action? but time will tell. Wind fresh, North veered NNW and bright sunshine for most of the day.

19/7/2024. So far, I didn’t hear of any catches or releases. Wind South light followed by good cloud cover, followed by rain.         

18/7/2024

 18/7/24. I didn’t hear of any reports of any Salmon caught or released or any C&R Sea Trout. Wind North light followed by some cloud cover, amount of rainfall 6.8mm, amount of sunshine 7hrs.2mins, maximum air temperature 18,2c.

17/7/2024. I didn’t hear of any catches, be it C&R, fly or troll, so on that note I will head straight to the Currane anglers weather, Wind strong followed by good cloud cover. Yesterdays weather, amount of rainfall 0.0mm, amount of sunshine 7hrs.8mins, maximum air temperature 17.8c.

16/7/2024. As of yet no reports today on catches or C&R. Another calm day on a very low lake, there was plenty of cloud cover and plenty of sunshine breaking through. Wind NW veered WNW, W. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 2.7mm, amount of sunshine 3hrs.9mins, maximum air temperature 19.4c.

Elvis the eel 

15/7/2024. No reports as of yet but for a matter of interest and I quote one Currane angler, Vince the lake needs a flood badly, so on that note we will head for brilliant video on an eel taking a rest bite making his way to The Sargasso Sea. Wind, East veered ESE, SE, NE followed by good cloud cover and misty rain at times. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 0.0mm, amount of sunshine 3hrs.6mins, maximum air temperature 17.9c.

14/7/2024. There were 14 boats out and just a few Brown Trout caught for their efforts. Wind light S veered SSW, S, followed by reasonable cloud cover. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 0.0mm, amount of sunshine 2hrs.8mins, maximum air temperature 17.3c.

12/7/2024. No reports on today’s action as of yet so we will head down stream to The Waterville Bridge and as you can see by video and photos, their getting down to business. Wind North veered NW late this afternoon, followed by reasonable cloud cover at times.  11/7/2024. Straight to the facts of the day, there were at least 3 grilse caught on the troll, followed by a few C&R trout. Wind, light North followed by bright sunshine for most of the day. Chef Martins

10/7/2024. Straight to the apologies department and for good reason, I failed miserably in my duties and as you can see by the picture, Currane angler, Chef Martins was one happy Currane angler yesterday, after catching his first Salmon/Grilse while fishing with his good friend and fellow chef and renowned Currane angler, Tam. All I can say is Congratulations and may it be the first of many. Now back to today’s notes, No reports as of yet. Wind light to fresh N veered NNW followed by reasonable cloud cover at times. 9/7/2024. Straight to today’s action, report by Justin.

 Hi Vince, At least 2 grilse caught on the troll, one angler celebrated his first ever Salmon on Currane after many attempts, a few trout caught on the troll and 1 on the fly. One angler reported catching a smolt on the Butler pool this morning but sadly it had returned early from the sea because it was covered in miniature sea lice, the trout was destroyed. Very upsetting to see, no wonder the Waterville anglers want the fish farms closed down, one question I was told that the Deenish fish farm was closed down 7 years ago due to over stocking, but I was told it’s still producing salmon pending appeal, surely it should be closed pending an appeal??? Something stinks here. Regards Justin.

Currane River

8/7/2024. There were 3 boats out, I didn’t hear of any catches or C&R’s, so we will head down stream to the Waterville Bridge where their starting repair work on the Bridge? as you can see by the photos, very interesting in a lot of ways. Wind ESE Variable followed by good cloud cover for most of the day. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 1.1mm, amount of sunshine 14hrs.0, maximum air temperature 15.4c.

7/7/2024. No reports on the Salmon and Sea Trout front, one must appreciate   that Lough Currane needs a good flood, if there were a few fish caught fair play to them. Now to yesterday’s backdate and for good reason, I got quite a few texts asking where did I get this report? yes I failed to mention that I poached it, as the Currane angler said, everything comes to those who wait as he netted his fish. Today’s weather, wind light to fresh WNE and veered W followed by the odd shower, come midday the sky’s cleared. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 3.6mm, amount of sunshine 6hrs.3mins, maximum air temperature 15.4c.

6/7/2024. My WhatsApple was very quiet this day but as I always say that doesn’t mean My Noble Salmon wasn’t caught and I have been proven correct I think and the proof of the pudding is in the eating of, so we will head for the backdate department and let the Stranger in the night have his Currane facts of the week. The stage is yours Stranger in the night.

On Lough Currane there were 8 salmon for the week with some sea trout also caught. Best of the sea trout was approximately 4lb and returned due to C+R regulations. Today’s weather, wind fresh NW and veered WNW followed by shoers at times. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 5.2mm, amount of sunshine 4hrs.5mins, maximum air temperature 14.8c.

There were no reports on today’s manipulations going by my WhatsApple but saying that, it has been reported that Currane angler Mr. Frank Donnelly caught a fine Salmon and two Grilse/Salmon on the troll in the last few days.
