23/1/17  Lough Currane was a bit on the wilder side this day with a fresh to strong ESE wind blowing across the Lake. My secret Service reports that there were 4 boats manipulating the lures around the Holly Island up to the Grey Rock into the Grassy and straight into the North Shore and what did My Noble Angers produce, I will tell you, absolutely nothing in the Wild Atlantic Salmon Department, even though I’m sure there was some action in the Kelt department. Wind as already stated with good cloud cover with heavy rain this evening, one will have to wait and see how much.

22/1/17 There were a few boats out this first Sunday of the season and the only angler who did a Billy Donegan of http://www.radiokerry.ie and I quote Billy’s catch phrase ie let your fingers do the talking. So lets get to the action, Kildare and Waterville Angler Mr. Noel. Clancy certainly let his fingers do the talking and going by his text, Noel had some good action in the trolling department, but sadly it was all in the Kelt department, he caught two Salmon Kelts and finished his day off with a cracker of a fish so he thought until he brought it close to the boat, experienced told him that it was a fine spent Sea Trout of about 8 lbs give or take and thankfully all his fish were released safe and sound. Wind ESE light with reasonable cloud cover with the light shower. Air temperature 8c felt 6c.

21/1/17 There were a few boats out manipulating, but sadly when their reels sang out, their smile was soon wiped out as they netted their Kelt and here are the reported catches. We start at the West end of the Lake, Kildare and Waterville Angler Mr. Noel Clancy, caught 1 Kelt while trolling. Now we head down the North Shore to Local Gillie Mr. Eric Jouen and at watervilleboats@gmail.com who caught 2 kelts on the troll. Wind ESE light with reasonable cloud cover, air temperature 7c felt like 5c

20/1/17 Lough Currane Secret Service reports that there were two boats manipulating and the anglers in question were local Gillie Mr. Bob Priestley and Kildare and Waterville Angler Mr. Noel Clancy. Noel reported that he caught 3 Kelts on the Troll and were all returned safely, so I’m sure they will make their way down stream to the Wild Atlantic Way. Wind ESE light with bright sunshine this morning and with reasonable cloud cover this afternoon, air temperature 11c but felt like 8c.

19/1/17 Lough Currane’s fishing menu for the day, bright sunshine, a light ESE wind, plus the odd sound of a trolling reel going off, then a hush of disappointment as the angler or anglers realised it was a Kelt. Air temperature 8c felt like 7c

18/1/17 There were a few boats manipulating but no reports of any real action except for the odd Kelt being caught and talking of Kelts, if you catch one I would appreciate it if you would report to me and remember to put your Kelts catches down in your log book. Wind SSE light and overcast, air temperature 10c felt like 8c

A picture always tells a story

17/1/17 Its great to be back in the No Spin No Fly’s just Facts zone and tight lines to all you anglers this 2017 season. Lough Currane had a calm of sadness this opening day and for good reason. It’s with great sadness that I have to inform you with the passing of Mrs Kathleen O’Shea RIP, Wife of Gillie Mr. Donal O’Shea and Mother of Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea, Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea, Daughters Ann and Kathleen, Daughter-in-law Patsy, Son-in-law’s Eamon and Michael and all the Grandchildren. So on behalf of all the Anglers and all Donal’s, Neil’s and Tom’s clients, and all the good people of Kerry we send our sincere sympathies to all the O’Shea Family and friends. Staying with the Lough Currane calm of sadness in the past few weeks UK angler Mr. Jonathan Fish RIP, Dublin Angler Mr PJ Lynham RIP, have sadly past away and again our sincere sympathies to both their families and friends. So on that sad start to the season we head out on to Lough Currane for today’s action or I should say the lack of it and for good reason, my Noble Anglers failed Miserably in their duties in both the fly and trolling departments, but to be fair to the fly anglers there was little to no wind as you can see by this photo. Just for the record there were a good few Kelts caught on the troll which is a good sign. Wind SSE light to calm with good cloud cover, air temperature 8c but felt like 7c.  Just for the record there were about 9 boats out manipulating.
