Christine And Kevin Brain 
Mr. Mike Taylor of Northern Ireland, fishing in a hired out boat from www.flyfishingatloughcurrane.com caught and released a fine 5 lbs. Sea Trout and for the rest of my noble anglers the leased said the soonest mended, so on that note we will head down stream and bypass the famous Butler Pool and of www.watervillegolflinks.ie and head straight out to the Atlantic Ocean to the Bass department, Mrs Christine Brain takes all the headlines with a fine 8 lbs Bass and her Husband and renowned Bass Angler/Guide Mr. Kevin Brain of www.kbfishingireland.com followed that up with another 8 lbs. Bass. Wind NW light with reasonable cloud cover.

Straight to Sea Trout C&R department, Mr. Liam McNight caught 4 Sea Trout up to 4 lbs. while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com staying with the Sea Trout Mr. Liam Ellis, caught 1 Junior. Wind NW fresh and overcast.

All the action came from the south side, an angler from the USA fishing with his Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.lakelandshouse.com caught 2 fine Salmon, both Salmon were caught on the troll, their weights, ranging from 4 lbs. up to 8 lbs.

All quiet on the SW front, or you could say it was the turn of the Anglers to have their Charlie Chaplin day, in other words my Noble anglers were fishing like a bunch of comedians’ and if this is not the case start catching My Noble Game Fish so the Paparazzi can do their job.

Straight to the Sea trout C&R department, Mr, David Burton caught 2 Juniors on the drift, while fishing with his gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea of www.flyfishingatloughcurrane.com staying with the Sea trout, Mr. Peter McNeil of the UK fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy of www.fishingwithdom.com also caught two Juniors.

Lough Currane did see a little bit of action, so we go straight to the hired out boat department of Waterville Boats and at watervilleboats@gmail.com The Lough Leane Anglers saw some good action in the Sea Trout fly department with the best weighing in at 3 lbs and also met a good few, but taking short, they also met a few Brown Trout. Staying in the Sea trout department, Mr. David Burton caught 1 Junior on the drift, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea of www.flyfishingatloughcurrane.com Now we head down stream to the Charlie Chaplin Comedy Festival and as you can see Waterville went for a world record for the most Charlie Chaplin’s assembled, but sadly they didn't



get the record so roll on 2014 and I am sure the record will be smashed.

23/8/13 Breaking News Butler Pool

Local gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea of www.flyfishingatloughcurrane.com reported that there were eight boats out manipulating and there were no reports of any real rod benders.So we will head down stream to the famous Butler Pool and of www.watervillegolflinks.ie Mr. Dennis Dennehy, fishing with his gillie Mr. John Murphy, caught a fine Salmon on the fly.  Wind NW with reasonable cloud cover, with the odd light shower.

There were 2 Juniors caught on the drift by Mr. David Burton, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea of www.flyfishingatloughcurrane.com and just for the record, Tom was telling me that there were about 6 boats manipulating, and going by phone, I am like Manuel of Faulty Towers, I know nothing. Wind W then veered SE light with reasonable cloud cover.

The Waterville Fishery was on the quiet side, even though there were a few boats manipulating and as they didn't report any of their catches, I presume they failed miserably in their duties. On that note we head for the Charlie Chaplin Film Festival 2013 of  http://chaplinfilmfestival.com/waterville/ To all you Video angling enthusiasts’ you won’t want to miss the Sea to Stream video, times of showing are, Thursday 22nd in St. Michaels at 5 pm. Straight to the backdate department. On the 15/8/13 a Guest fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy of www.fishingwithdom.com caught 2 Grilse on the fly, and also in good form was UK angler Mr. Ken Toner, who caught a 8 lbs. Salmon on the fly, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Vincent O’Sullivan of www.vincentsfishing.com and on a personal note I would like to apologise to all you Salmon and Sea Trout readers for this delay. Now back to the present. All the headlines go to fly department, Mr. Ian McMullan of Co Wicklow, fishing out of www.butlerarms.com caught 2 Salmon on the fly, ranging from 4 lbs. up to 6 lbs and contacted a few, but alas they escaped the mercy of the Gillie’s Priest. Ian’s Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com was also telling me that Ian, rose a good few Sea Trout. Now to the trolling department. Mr. Jeremy O’Connor caught a 6 lbs. grilse on the troll, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea of www.flyfishingatloughcurrane.com Wind SW fresh to strong at times, with reasonable cloud cover.

15/8/13 Breaking News Butler Pool

On famous Butler Pool and of www.watervillegolflinks.ie Mr. Kevin Synott caught 3 Grilse on the fly, whiles fishing with his Gillie Mr. John Murphy, and John was telling me that their Grilse were just in fresh from the Atlantic.


There was another good down pour this morning. On the Sea Trout front, there was 1 Junior caught on the troll by Mr. Anthony Buckley of Cork and his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea of www.flyfishingatloughcurrane.com and just for the record there was 6 Boats manipulating out there and going by the lack of reports they failed miserably in their duties in all departments. Wind SW light and veered NW this evening.

I will start by apologizing for the delay, but got home late after the great Dinner and party at the Waterville Inn and on behalf of all the Anglers, I would like to thank Mr. Damien Duff the Landlord of the Waterville Inn and his good wife Sally and all the staff for a great party and Dinner. Now to the Lough Currane Catch and Release Fly fishing Championship. The First Prize was won by Eugene McCarthy with 179 points.

Today was the start of Lough Currane Catch Release Fly fishing Championship, Sponsored by www.emergertackle.com and there was some good action with 35 plus Sea Trout caught on the first day, the biggest I believe was in the 4 lbs. class. I will give all the facts in tomorrows update. Now for the rest of the Game fishing news. In the Sea Trout department anglers did catch a few Sea Trout. Now to the backdate department, yesterday 8/8/13 Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com reported to me that Mr. Mike Shea and Mr. Jerome Dowling, caught a fine lightening fresh 9 lbs. Salmon and they finished their day off with a fine Grilse, all caught on the fly. Now back today’s facts on the weather front, there was a light N wind then veered W late this afternoon with reasonable cloud cover at times.

Today was all about catching our faith, as you can see by the photos, or you could say the Honourable Fathers had a good catch, it was a pity my Noble Anglers couldn’t say the same, and there was no wind from any direction.
