27/2/2023 It
was reported to me today that a lot of Currane and none Currane anglers are
under the impression that the Waterville Fishery i.e. The Butler Pool, Lough Currane,
the Commeragh River and Upper lakes are still under the Brown Tag rule, I can assure
you this is incorrect and thankfully we are a Blue tag fishery. Now to today’s manipulations,
well I can say there was no blue tagged Wild Salmon caught today. Just for the

Mr. Dan McGillicuddy RIP
13/2/2023 I
start this week on a sad note on the passing of Mr. Dan McGillicuddy RIP and
Dan may not have been a Gillie but he knew every angle of Salmon and Sea Trout
fishing, in the sixty’s He worked in the Finglas Hatchery, Waterville Golf Club
and Waterville House. On a personal note, I have one good fishing story of Mr.
Dan McGillicuddy RIP, When Dan was in his teens he was watching an angler on
The Butler pool playing a cracker of a Salmon and shouting for his Gillie to
come and gaff his fish, the Gillie was nowhere to be seen so Dan ran down and
gaffed the Salmon with one swipe of the Gaff and left the angler dumfounded with
his speed. So on behalf of the Currane Anglers all the good people of Caherdaniel, Waterville
and all of Kerry and our Sincere Sympathies to all of Dan’s family, especially
Dominic, Ger, Paul, Donie, Anne, Finbar and Eamon. Sadly, missed by his
daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters
Sheila and Breda, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended
family, kind neighbours and friends.
On Salmon

passing of his Dad.
