18/3/17

Hugh
Nothing like your first Salmon on the Fly
Noel
18/3/17 A cracker of a day on Lough Currane, normally I leave the best to last but not today and for good reason the race for the first Salmon to be caught on the fly is over, its quite ironic in one sense the gentleman in question is Mr. Hugh Patrick O’Connor of Boherbue North Cork, who came of age today in years and christened his 18th Birthday  off with his first ever  6 ½ lbs. Salmon caught on the fly off the point of Grassy Island and as his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com said welcome to the O’Shea school of fly fishing. On a personal Note its great to see a young angler take the limelight and again well done Hugh and may it be the first of many. Now we head for the trolling department and all the trolling headlines go to Mr. Noel Clancy of Waterville and Kildare, while trolling down the North Shore he caught himself a fine Salmon just under the 10 lbs. on the troll and by all accounts had a great battle and the rest is history, Wind WNW and blustery with heavy down pours at times. Amount rainfall yesterday was 5.2 mm, the maximum air temperature 11.3c minimum 7c.
