 Heinz  RIP
13/2/17 Lough Currane was at a standstill with a strong SE Gale blowing across the Lake as anglers just watched the waves hit the shoreline and I can tell you it wasn’t long before they headed for the Bars for a pick me up liquid libation, but I must say one angler did hit the elements once wind dropped but to no avail. Again the Waterville Fishery has lost another great angler, I am sad to inform you that German Angler Mr. Heinz Stratman RIP past away earlier this month. I can say without any fear of contradiction that Heinz’s history and knowledge of fishing goes back 50 years on this fishery and what a great character he was. Heinz you will surly be missed in the Salmon Sea Trout community, so on that note on behalf of all the anglers and the good people of Kerry, we send our deepest sympathies to his Good Wife, Family and Friends.

12/2/17

Cheers the waves were nearly as big as those large Paddy's
12/2/17 Lough Currane was on the wild side with a strong NE blowing up the Lake, so as you can imagine again most anglers preferred a warm fire and a large Paddy and spoke of what could have been and I’m not talking of Mr. Bean ether! Going back on Lough Currane there were two boats manipulating but sadly no takers. Wind as already stated and over cast and very cold air temperature 5c. felt 0c. I end this weeks notes on a sad note, I regret to inform you that the Waterville Fishery has lost another great angler, Mr. Kevin Edwards RIP of Town View, Mallow and late of Killahan, Abbeydorney passed away, so on behalf of all the anglers and the good people of Kerry, we send are deepest sympathies to all his Family and Friends.

Cold Brisk day on Lough Currane
11/2/17 I’m coming to the conclusion that the majority of you Lough Currane anglers are getting Lazy! how do you expect this fishery to keep its status of a Great Fishery if you anglers are warming your backsides in the bar! and if you know the history of the pros and cons of Lough Currane you would know the deadly day is approaching the Currane system fast, so get out there and keep that record intact and just for the record that’s 54 years of experience talking. Wind NE fresh and very cold, air temperature 5c felt like 1c bright sunshine with cloud cover at times.

10/2/17

10/2/17 There were 3 boats manipulating the Currane waters today and what can one say about their professionalism, in one word, amateurish and why do I say this its simple their performance has a lot to be desired in all departments. Now we will leave the sarcasm department and head for a bit of history in the Salmon records department,  to get these facts click the link, I think you will be interested ? Wind SE moderate with bright sunshine all day, air temperature 5c felt like 3c.

9/2/17

Here is your meteorological service for Lough Currane today. In the words of two renowned Gillie’s based on the North Shore, I will start in alphabetical order. Mr. Eric Jouen of Waterville Boats and at watervilleboats@gmail.com said the lake was lifting this morning and this was also confirmed by Mr. Tom O’Shea of www.flyfishingatloughcurrane.com and Tom also reported there were no boats out fishing out from the North Side today and for good reason, there was a southerly gale blowing across the lake. Air temperature 9c but felt like 6c. Just for the record Valentia Observatory has recorded 64 mm of rainfall so far for February. Wind as already stated, there was good cloud cover with showers.
