6/6/16 The Irish Navy gave Waterville Boats and Lough Currane and the Kerry Fishery a full Irish Navy salute today and for good reason because there was some great fishing in the fly department and here are the facts of the day. I will start with Salmon of the day and that goes to UK angler Mr. Nigel Henshaw of Hartley Wintney, while fishing with his Gillie, caught a cracker of a 10 lbs. Salmon on the fly and in the words of Nigel’s Gillie and I quote, lost one Salmon first thing this morning on the troll then lost 3 on the fly before caching a peach of a 10 lbs. Salmon on the fly. Now to catch of the day and that goes to another great Hampshire Angler Mr. Trevor Dewberry of Blackbushe, while fly fishing with his Gillie Mr. Michael O’Sullivan of Waterville Boats and at
watervilleboats@gmail.com Caught 3 Grilse from 3 ½ lbs. up to 4 lbs. Normally I don’t report on other fisheries but I’m going to make an exception and in my book for good reason, Trevor and Nigel’s good mate, Mr. Peter Ruffle, of Hartley Wintney, went up to Caragh lake and caught two fine Grilse on the troll and as I said the other day you can’t beat the Hampshire pros, so congratulations to them and their Gillie’s for promoting Kerry Fishing. Wind South with reasonable cloud cover.
