Richard. Ian, Sylvester! |
Today’s
story of Memories past on Lough Currane, is by UK Angler Mr. Ian Scofield
On the April
2nd, 2011 I was with my friend Richard Haigh and fishing out of
Raheen Cottage, our Ghillie was Sylvester Donnelly. We Caught a 10 lb Salmon on
the troll, but the big story of our trip however was the big salmon, which was
returned because of this, it could not be officially recorded. The anglers
concerned were sensible honest people and I am sure their story was truthful.
The expert who assessed the weight from measurements was Chris Mills who was
qualified in Marine Biology, used to manage the Burrishoole fishery in Newport Co
Mayo. He thought the fish would have been in excess of 35 pounds and made our
Salmon sound small. Really enjoy your Blog. Best Wishes Ian Scofield.
