7/6/15 There was good action on the Waterville Fishery today, we start on Lough Currane at the NW West end. Mr. Shay Lynam of Dublin caught a fine Grilse on the troll, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Michael O’Dwyer. Now we head down Stream to the Bungalow where I might add there was some fine action in the catch and keep department and the C&R department was well represented. We start in the C&R fly department, Mr. Enrico Fantasia fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com caught and released a fine Grilse in the 5 lbs. class. And just for the record they also lost 2 fine Sea Trout. Staying at the Bungalow Neil’s Father, Mr. Donal O’Shea had catch of the day with 2 fine Grilse caught on the troll and lost another  and thankfully the paparazzi had their phone in working order as were the Inland fisheries Officers, as you can see in the photos. Now we cut across the South side of the Lake. Local Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.lakelandshouse.com  caught a fine 7 lbs. Salmon / Grilse on the troll and in Franks hired out boat department, Mr. Larkin Buckley and Mr. Colin Mayben caught two Sea Trout both in the 2 ½ lbs. class, If I have got your names wrong Gentlemen please email me and I will put the record straight. Staying in www.lakelandshouse.com hired out boat department Mr. John Flannery, caught a fine 2 ½ lbs Sea Trout on the drift. Now we head down the South shore to Coffee’s Bay. Mr. Liam Ellis and Mr. Ray Burns, caught and released 2 fine Sea Trout their best was 2 lbs. 8 oz caught by Ray. Also in good form fishing out of Coffee’s Bay was Cork Angler Mr. Michael Quilligan , with a fine 4 lbs, Sea Trout which he sportingly put back. and last but least,Hi Vincent,
Just got back over from the UK and launched my boat this afternoon at Coffey's so  thought I would give it a run out and spend a few hours drowning some flies. As luck would have it second drift I latched into and landed a super fresh hen SeaTrout. Boy it gave a fine scrap.  As it was just a short trip I did not have the damn camera but luckily  I did have my tape measure it went 52cm not sure what weight that equates to but I am pleased to confirm she went back safely to complete her cycle.

6/6/15 There was some reasonable manipulating on Lough Currane today and as you can see a few anglers had their rods well stimulated. Mr. Enrico Fantasia, fishing out of the Bungalow, caught a fine 2 ½ lbs. Sea Trout on the fly, while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com Staying with the fly, and the North Side, Mr. Tim Harley, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy of www.fishingwithdom.com and fishing out of Vincent’s Harbour, caught and released 4 fine Sea Trout, ranging 2 lbs. up to 3 lbs. Now we cut across the Lake to Coffee’s Bay, Cork and Waterville Angler Mr. Gerry O’Sullivan, caught a fine 9 lbs. Salmon on the troll. Wind NW fresh to strong this morning and lighter in the afternoon with reasonable cloud cover at times.

5/6/15 It was a rough day on Lough Currane today with a strong Westerly blowing down the Lake, but this didn’t deter two or three boats venturing out and by the end of the day there was one angler who came up with the wild Atlantic Salmon and that was Mr. Kevin Cahill, who caught his first 4 ½ lbs. Salmon / Grilse, caught on the troll, and may it be the first of many, Kevin was fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com and staying with Neil and for good reason he wasn’t amused with the paparazzi today because they failed miserably in their duties in answering the phone, all I can say is guilty as charged but going by the photo his client will be saying who the hell needs the paparazzi but I have to apologise for missing his call. Staying in the  apology department, on the 3/6/15 Cork Angler Mr. Paul Lawton caught a fine 3 lbs. Sea Trout on the drift and his good friend Mr. Liam Ellis sent me the photo and for some reason I forgot to download it, sorry for that Paul. I hope this puts the record straight.

4/6/15 Mr. Tom Murphy’s forecast on the fishing yesterday was bang on, so lets get to the action. We Start at the Bungalow, Mr. Robbie Pitman and Mr. Simon Tarpey  caught 5 Sea Trout ranging from 1¾ lbs up to 4 ½ lbs all caught on the fly, while fishing with their Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com just for the record their selection of flies were a Watson’s Fancy and a Silver Daddy size 10 on intermediate fly line. just for the record Robbie and Simon released the other 3 Sea Trout. Staying at the Bungalow, in Neil’s hired out boat department, Cork Angler Mr. Richey White, caught a 3 ½ lbs. Sea Trout on the drift. Now we cut across the Lake to the South Side and Coffee’s Bay, Mr. Ray Burns fishing with Mr. Liam Ellis, caught a fine 6 ½ lbs. Salmon on the drift and Liam caught a fine 5 ½ lbs. Sea Trout also on the drift and this evening they finished their day off with a fine Sea Trout of 3 lbs. which they sportingly put back to fight another day. There selection of flies were a Red Ass Green Peter and a Goats Tail size 10 on a  intermediate fly line. Wind South light to fresh and overcast with rain this evening.

3/6/15 Mr. Tom Murphy was in good form again after yesterdays catch, so take it away Tom, the stage is all yours, The brownies are still cooperative on Currane but not the Juniors. I did see a few Juniors  today but no luck. Conditions were tough with bright sunshine and southerly winds. It looks like the lake is just starting to drop after the rain during the week so I'd 'expect' fishing to improve. Mr. Paul Lawton caught a fine 3 lbs. Sea Trout on the drift, Now we head upstream to the Upper Lakes and Cloonaghlin, Mr. Olly Benkert of the UK and Mr. Denis Dennehy had a cracker of a day, caught 30 Trout and finished their day off with a fine 10 lbs. Salmon caught on a Bibio. Weather as already stated.

2/6/15 Again Lough Currane was on the wild side with a strong Westerly blowing down the Lake and going by the mobile there was little to no action. So we head over to Mr. Tom Murphy’s  Facebook and in his words, getting some good quality browns on Currane, Getting some Juniors, but they're small, Very few over 30cms, but fresh with sea lice. This photo of a fine Brown Trout was caught by Tom which I poached off his Facebook page, when he caught theses fine fish, I’m not sure, will give facts later, plus I hope he doesn’t send me a Solicitor’s letter for poaching, but for such a fine Brown Trout I couldn’t resist the poachers instinct. www.surveymonkey.com/s/WatervilleLakesandRiversTrust

1/6/15 For the 1st of June it felt like winter, with Lough Currane nearly at a standstill, with gale force Winds blowing all day with heavy rain. The odd boat did venture out and fished the sheltered spots but with no luck. Wind was W then veered SW veered again into the S and come this evening it veered NW. We can only see what tomorrow will bring, will it be rain will it be wind or will it be a Wild Atlantic Salmon or my Noble Specimen Sea Trout? So watch this space.
