It is noted that one catch-and-release angler was present on the River Inny this morning; however, no further details are available. The weather at Currane featured a fresh West-South-Westerly wind with intermittent cloud cover. For yesterday, rainfall measured 1.2 mm, the maximum air temperature reached 17.5°C, and sunshine duration totalled 1 hour and 6 minutes.

 August 7, 2025: There were no reports from Currane anglers regarding the catch and release of salmon or sea trout. The weather chart for Lough Currane indicates moderate winds from the west-northwest and reasonable cloud cover. For yesterday, recorded rainfall was 9.4 mm, the maximum air temperature reached 16.9°C, and there was one minute of sunshine.

 August 6, 2025: No reports were received from Currane catch and release (C&R) salmon and sea trout anglers today. Regarding angler perspectives, Anthony expressed concern over what he perceives as limited governmental interest in the protection of these fisheries. He referenced prior incidents involving sea lice on Currane sea trout and remarked that similar issues, if observed in Dáil Éireann, would likely prompt rapid intervention. Weather conditions included light to moderate south-westerly winds, intermittent cloud cover, minimal rainfall the previous day, a maximum temperature of 17.6°C, and 6 hours and 3 minutes of sunshine.

 August 4, 2025: Two Currane boats were observed trolling lures, but reports indicate that no catches were made. Only a few anglers were present on the Inny, and, as is customary, their results have not been disclosed. In a previous update, it was noted that last Saturday, an angler successfully caught a salmon using bait on the Commeragh. Regarding today's weather conditions at the Waterville fishery: winds were fresh from the NNW, later veering to NW, with intervals of considerable sun and occasional cloud cover. The previous day's data recorded 5.2 mm of rainfall, a maximum air temperature of 18.5°C, and 3 hours and 1 minute of sunshine.

 August 3, 2025. On this Bank Holiday Sunday, four Currane boats were out demonstrating their angling techniques. There were no reports of any caught or released salmon or sea trout. Moving on to today’s weather chart for Currane anglers: wind was light to gentle, varying from northwest to west-northwest, west, west-southwest, and southwest. Yesterday’s weather included 1.3mm of rainfall, a maximum air temperature of 17.8°C, and only one minute of sunshine. We now invite the Currane anglers’ perspective; the stage is yours, 

Sy Bee.The Irish gov banned sea trout re stocking! And it looks like any form of stocking even of salmon has failed as well in this area! Judging by this year’s catches! Something is eating them at sea! I think seals! Salmon farms don’t eat salmon or sea trout! Seals do en mass! Many seals all over Uk ie - less and less sea trout and salmon! I’m sticking to my view that seal are a major cause of sea trout and salmon demise in 2025! Next poachers netting in the sea and rivers! Salmon farms don’t poach and nett wild sea trout and salmon! They pollute the seas

 August 2, 2025. There were no reports of catch and release Salmon or Seatrout from Currane anglers on this Bank Holiday Saturday. Turning to today's weather, conditions were characterized by a gentle South-Westerly wind and persistent overcast skies, with intermittent misty rain. Regarding yesterday's weather data, the only records available are zero rainfall, eight minutes of sunshine, and a maximum air temperature of 18°C; the official temperature remains unavailable, We now present insights from the perspective of a Currane angler. Thank you, Vincent, for your daily updates. I can only imagine how disheartening this must be for you, with both you and your late father having seen Waterville in the good times.  I know conditions aren’t ideal, but Currane is yards from the sea and we should be seeing trout caught every day, with a handful of grilse thrown in. No angler can catch what’s not there and Hell roast the shysters that allowed this to happen to Ireland’s finest seatrout fishery.  Frankly, I’m surprised that anyone is even launching a boat.  Back in 2015, we had some great sport. Not easy fishing I’ll grant you, but I had 4 seatrout and a 7lb salmon for a week. The best trout was just shy of 5lb. The smallest was 3.5lbs. Every year, without fail, Waterville produced specimen seatrout. By 2016 and the expansion of salmon farms, it was all over. I first fished Currane in 1972. It was like Alaska and people came from across the world to the Butler Arms. Changed days.

Weather conditions included a gentle to moderate north wind shifting to NNW, and intermittent periods of reasonable cloud cover.
