Young Currane angler and Gillie Mike Moriarty |
20/7/23 Again the Lough Currane anglers were all quiet in all departments today, so on that note I will go down photograph memory lane and all the credit goes to my Mother for taking all these photos and marvellous memories, the year was 1965 and as you can see in the photo, local Gillie Mike Moriarty, now I quote Hardy’s of Pall Mall, the manager asked my Father and Uncle where were they going fishing, they replied Waterville, ah yes Mike Moriarty and Tom O’Sullivan first class Gillies, oh you have fished in Waterville, the manager replied, I haven’t, those Gillies have a famous world reputation, the year was the summer of 1963 and this isn’t a fisherman’s story. Going back to the photo as you can see there is another young famous Currane angler and I will leave the rest to your imagination. Wind NNW light and variable with reasonable cloud cover.
