There was a strong SW wind blowing which made fishing virtually impossible this morning, but come this afternoon the wind had dropped and it wasn’t long before Mr. Mark Knowles of the UK had his fly rod bent double into a 8lbs Salmon caught out at the flags, fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy and for the rest of we poor Gillie's the least said the soonest mended.

Mr. Mark Knowles of the UK and his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy were in again in great form in the fly department, with two Salmon caught, off the point of Grassy island, both Salmon were in the 7lbs plus class. In the Sea Trout Department a Guest caught a 1.5lbs Sea Trout on the troll, with his Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net Wind SW light with reasonable cloud cover.

C&R Sea Trout update
Mr. Mark Knowles of the UK caught a 3lbs Sea Trout on the fly

All quiet on the SW front in the Salmon department on Lough Currane, so we will head down stream to the Butler Pool, Where renowned Gillie Mr Michael O’Dwyer  caught a 14.5lbs lightening fresh Salmon on the fly, and as one American Angler said to me and I quote, Waterville House and @ www.watervillegolflinks.ie  has some Guide, and I tell you man, if you saw the way he netted that Salmon, one swipe and it was on the bank and the rest is history, so in that case I will head back up stream to Lough Currane, and  in the Sea Trout department, Mr Pat O’Mahony  of Cork caught a Sea Trout in the 2lbs class on the drift. Wind SW light to fresh and overcast with light drizzle at times.

Mr Mark Knowles of the UK, was in good form again at the point of the grassy Island, when he caught a fine 10lbs plus salmon on the fly, with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, now to the trolling department Mr. Noel Clancy, caught a fine 8lbs Salmon on the troll, with his Gillie Mr. Sian Braine. Now to the Sea Trout department A guest fishing with Mr. Tom O’Shea and @ tomsfishing@eircom.net caught a Sea Trout in the 2llbs Class. Wind NW fresh to strong with reasonable cloud cover.

Mr. Arthur White of the UK on his last morning’s fishing caught a fine Grilse on the troll with his Gillie Mr Bob Priestly, In the Sea Trout Department Mr. Mark Knowles of the UK caught a 3lbs Sea trout on the fly with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, and last but not least Mr. Tom Long caught a 7.5 Salmon and a fine 5.5lbs Sea Trout, on the drift. Wind WSW light with misty rain throughout the day.

There was some good action on Lough Currane today, and I start with catch of the day and that goes to Mr. Liam Ellis Of Cork, who caught a fine 5lbs 8ozs Sea Trout on the troll and finished the day off with a 7lbs plus Salmon on the fly, and staying with the fly , Mr. Mark Knowles of the UK caught a 11lbs Salmon off the point of the Grassy island, Mark was fishing with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, and staying in the salmon department, Mr. Paul Kelly caught a fine 9lbs Salmon on the troll this evening.and last but not least, Mr. Arthur White of the UK caught a 2lbs Sea Trout on the troll, Arthur was fishing with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestly. If I said it once, I have said it many times, it’s the early Angler that catches My Noble Gentlemen the Salmon and that is exactly what Mr Paul Toner of Co Antrim did early this morning when drifting for Sea Trout, but instead caught himself a fine 11lbs Salmon on the Bumble, and I can tell you Paul had one hell of a fight which took the best part of 45 minutes to conquer my Noble Gentlemen the Salmon,   and just for the record Paul was in a hired out boat from Waterville Boats and @ watervilleboats@gmail.com Now to the Sea Trout department, Mr John Baller of the UK and fishing out of www.butlerarms.com caught a 2lbs Sea trout on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea and of www.oshealoughcurrane.com  and a guest caught a 3lbs Sea trout on the fly with his Gillie Mr. Dominic McGillicuddy, also in good form was Mr. Arthur White who caught a Sea Trout in the 2lbs class on the troll, with his gillie Mr. Bob Priestly, Sea trout of the day, goes to Mr. Dowling, who caught a 4lbs Sea trout on the drift. Wind NW fresh and overcast with light drizzle at times.
