Worth waiting for

14/8/17 Straight to the Sea Trout fly department, Kildare angler, Mr. Gerald Ford, caught and released two Sea Trout, ranging from 1 ½ up to 2 lbs. All while fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com Now we head up the Commeragh River and the upper Lakes and Lough Na Huisce / Iskanamacteery and catch of the day, plus a bit of Lough Na Huisce History which was made today and has taken 50 years to register another fine Specimen Sea Trout and that Honour goes to  Cork angler Mr. Brian Clancy, while fly-fishing from the shoreline, caught himself a cracker of a 7 lbs. 2 ozs Specimen Sea trout, caught on a size 8 Invicta. Wind NW light and sunny all day. Yesterdays weather, amount of rainfall 4.8mm. Maximum air temperature 15.7c.

Fantastic Evening out at Five Spice

13/8/17 The Lough Currane anglers were in a dormant and lethargic mood this day on Lough Currane and I think this sums up today’s manipulations so on that note I think I will Spice today’s notes up on a positive note, this evening I and Margaret headed out for the 5 Spice Restaurant in Waterville and I can tell you without any fear of contradiction their food and service is second to none and just for the record I have had some great Stakes over the years and have eaten in some of the best Restaurants in The US, the UK and the dear old Emerald Isle and the 5 Spice is simply the best in all departments. Wind was all over the place with the odd shower. Yesterdays weather, maximum air temperature 17.4 c.

12/8/17 There were just a few boats manipulating the waters of Lough Currane and  all was quiet on the SW front. Wind NW light to fresh and mainly bright and sunny. Yesterdays weather, amount of rainfall 4.4mm. Maximum air temperature 16.8 c.

The anglers reflections are getting like an addiction and this isn’t fiction because again today my noble anglers failed miserably in their duties in all departments. Wind W light to fresh with good cloud cover. Yesterdays weather, maximum air temperature 15.8 c.

10/8/17 Today on Lough Currane and the Waterville Fishery in general was a day for reflections of my Noble anglers failures in producing a wild Game fish, be it with fly or lure, all I can say is if the angler was as bad in calling a pint as they are catching wild game Fish we would be in deep trouble and I thinks this sums up today’s reflections. Wind NW with reasonable cloud cover. Yesterdays weather, maximum air temperature 17.3 c.

9/8/17   US anglers take all the Salmon and fly headlines North and South, So straight to the action at the North Shore and the Bungalow, US angler Andrew Boyle of Minnesota, caught and released a fine 5 lbs. Salmon Grilse, while fly fishing with his Gillie Mr. Neil O’Shea of www.oshealoughcurrane.com Now we head to the South  side, US angler Ms. Linda Kindellsa, caught a fantastic 11 lbs. Salmon, while trolling with her Gillie Mr. Frank Donnelly of www.lakelandshouse.com just for the record the upper lakes were all quiet on the SW front. Wind NNE light and sunny. Yesterdays weather, amount of rainfall 7.8 mm. Maximum air temperature 15.1 c.

8/8/17 Lough Currane was all quiet on the SW front, so on that note we head for the upper Lakes and in the words of Local Gillie Mr. Tom O’Shea of www.flyfishingatloughcurrane.com On Lough Derriana today with my client, Dublin fly angler, Mr. Ian McMullen, caught and released 1 Sea Trout  of  1 ½ lbs. Wind North light to fresh with the odd heavy shower. Yesterdays weather, amount of rainfall 0.8 mm. Maximum air temperature 16.5c.
