23/1/2025 It was clear that the Currane anglers prioritized securing their boats over venturing out, which was a prudent decision given that storm Éowyn is approaching the southwest. As illustrated in the accompanying picture, the outlook for any part of the island of Ireland is not favourable. Stay safe. Just for the record Lough Currane was on the wild side today with WNW gusts up to 72 Km/h. Yesterday’s weather, amount of rainfall 1.1mm, maximum air temperature 10.2°C, amount of sunshine 3hrs 7mins. Storm Éowyn chart for Lough Currane.

Rainbow Red Alert

 

22/1/2025. Currane angler reports there was two boat out and no C&R except for a few kelts. Wind light NW and variable followed by showers as you can see by the photo, taken this morning.  Now to the wind, Red alert for Kerry and that includes the whole of Ireland so click here for all the facts.  So stay safe and sound me hearties.

Mr. Eric G Appleby RIP

It has been 12 years since my father, Mr. E.G. Appleby, passed away. He was a great Currane angler in his own right and that’s a fact. He may be gone but He certainly isn’t forgotten, RIP Dad.

21/1/2025. A Currane angler reports that there were 3 boats out and only a few kelts for their efforts and as they say, tomorrow is another day and especially as storm Éowyn may hit Ireland on Thursday. Wind light and variable NE to NW.

20/1/2025. All quiet on the C&R department, just for the record there were a few kelts caught and released. There were 4 boats out manipulating their skills. Wind light and variable right through the day from the SE to the NW. Yesterday’s weather amount of rainfall 4.6mm, amount of sunshine 0.0, air temperature 8.4°C.

19/1/2025. There were no boats out this day, need I say more. Wind fresh followed by strong gusts and overcast all day. Yesterday's weather: 0.0mm rainfall, max temperature 13.0°C, amount of sunshine 3 hr.2mins.

18/1/2025. Just two boats out this morning and come lunchtime one packed up and headed for home while the other Currane angler stuck it out and sadly no C&R Salmon to report. Wind, South fresh followed by good cloud cover. Yesterday’s weather, rainfall 0.0mm. temperature 11.7c. amount of sunshine 0.0.

17/1/2025. Great to be back on the No Spin No Fly’s just Facts zone. Well, there was 11 boats out this day manipulating their skills but sadly all was quiet on this opening day except for a few kelts caught. Thankfully the same couldn’t be said in the barbeque department at Waterville boats as you can see by the opening day at lunchtime. Wind South moderate and overcast.
