28/1/21

28/1/21 The Brown Tag Boats were not manipulating their prized lures and the same goes for the Barbless anglers. Just for the record, yesterday I failed miserably in my duties, I failed to report that there was one Brown tag boat out for an hour or two.

27/1/21

27/1/21 No reports of any Boats out on the waters of Lough Currane this day, so you can say that I am barbless and tagless in today’s notes and rightly so.

               Barry O'Donovan RIP

Waterville and the Waterville Fishery has lost another great angler to the Heavenly Waters, sadly I have to report that Mr. Barry O’Donovan RIP of Cork and Waterville, passed away yesterday. On behalf of the Waterville Anglers and the good people of Waterville and Kerry our Sincere Sympathies to his wife Ann and to all the Family.

                            The Snow Mountains of Kerry!

25/1/21 Straight to today’s facts and I can say without any fear of contradiction that My Noble Salmon has not been Brown Tagged at this present time and the same goes for the Barbless manipulators, so I can say there was no stimulation on a very cold Lough Currane today. Just for the record there were 3 Brown Tag Boats and one Barbless boat out. Now we head for the email department and today’s topic and you have it, so take it away, JM here, Hi Vincent very disappointed reading your blog on Sunday, only 2 boats on the lake , very sad to hear no regular locals fishing for heavens sake their the back bone of Waterville lake and have been for years, I can’t understand why these anglers especially in the times were in, weren’t handed tags, I think it’s a disgrace, all locals inside 5km  with travel ban in place don’t have brown tag, to me it looks very badly organised by the fisheries also, no common sense here, for god sake fisheries board cop on and give the diehards tags and make amends for your mistakes.  Where the other 13 tags. Coming to Waterville many years love the lake and the locals, your friend, jM.

24/1/21

24/1/21 There was snow on the mountains of Kerry this cold day as two Brown tags headed out on to the Currane waters and I can say that both Brown tags were Salmonless at the end of their day’s fishing.

23/1/21

All Quiet On the North Shore!

23/1/21 3 Brown tag boats out manipulating the Currane Waters this day, I can tell you it was very cold and wet. And followed by a fresh wind from the South, sadly the boats did not stay out long. Just for the record there was no barbless hook boats out. Now we head for the email department and a reply to yesterday’s comment. So take it away David, Well said Sean I agree 100pc with your idea of, if you didn’t want or weren’t able to use your tag put back in draw and all the locals might have got brown tags, sad to see very few boats out trying to catch Currane first salmon 2021, it’s sad to hear diehards are missing from lake, I hope for Currane’s sake they get tags in March, Waterville needs the locals out there. Thanks again Sean pity you weren’t organising the draw, and thanks Vincent for keeping the reports going in these strange times. Love Waterville, regular angler David.

                   Brownless Tagless ??

22/1/21 On today’s Brown tags and tagless Anglers I can say without any fear of contradiction today was Salmonless, just for the record there were 3 boats out, 1 Barbless and two Brown tag boats out. Now to the email department and Currane Angler Sean wants to have his say on the Brown tags and that is ok with me, so take it away Sean and I quote, Hi Vincent, I have been following your Blog since the opening day, I cannot understand this brown tag system. If you get a brown tag how are you allowed to give it to another angler, surely if you cannot use tag the fair thing would be is to put it back in and draw again, it will give locals without a tag a fair chance to get a brown tag, I cannot believe what has happened, surely it is illegal to just hand tags around to one another, regular Currane angler, Sean.
