August 2, 2025: A mix of catch-and-release sea trout and brown
trout were landed while drifting, with five Currane boats participating. The
weather for Currane featured variable gentle to moderate south-southeast winds,
veering southwest, west-southwest, southwest, and south-southwest, accompanied
by showers throughout the day. Recorded rainfall for yesterday was 4.8 mm, the
maximum air temperature reached 16.9°C, and sunshine totalled 3 hours and 7
minutes. A recent photograph illustrates the decline of Currane sea trout
populations, underscoring concerns regarding government response and attention
to salmon and sea trout conservation issues.
